i have just moved into an area where there is an Aldi, i am not really familiar with the store, what do you recommend of their products.

Yes there is a shortage of sparkling water. My local Aldi hasn't had 6 packs of it for weeks. I believe there is a carbon dioxide shortage in the UK maybe this has something got to do with it.

I tweeted Aldi a while ago about no sparkling water and the reply I got back was that the item was temporarily unavailable but they hope to have it back in store soon.

Dunnes had 6 packs of sparkling water last week but none this week but I managed to get individual 2 litre bottles they had on special for 89c each.

Read this thread the whole time, but never post in here. A couple of things which I find lovely in Aldi. Their Pilau Rice which is about €0.99 and in the fridge is lovely. They do a fried rice too. Says it does two people but you could eat it on your own. I nearly get two tubs each week.

Their skinny chips which you stick in the Actifrryer are lovely too. They are in a red bag and are about €0.69 a bag. Got them this week and I’ve had them twice and they are lovely. Just like the McDonalds chips.

Stuff that consistently fill my weekly shop :

-Specially selected buffalo mozzarella (black and green packaging) is the best I've tasted anywhere.

- SS Mature cheddar (black and blue packaging) is a fine cheese

- The Parmesan is top class

- Halloumi again is very good (we eat a lot of cheese!)

- The Ghanaian 35% 5 pack chocolate is a lovely treat, our favourite chocolate around

- SS mixed berry granola again delicious on yoghurt or with milk!

- The 500G Brooklea Greek yoghurt

- The 2 pack of hot smoked salmon, very handy when you need something or for lunch

- The Cashews/peanuts mix

- chocolate mousse

That's off the top of my head some of the products that stand out as very good, Their fruit & veg while it's okay, I find its weak in comparison to Lidl, much fresher and longer life.

for them to be even closer to McD chips you can get salt and powder it in a good blender so it is really fine. Then dust this from a height onto the chips.

Regular salt particles just sort of fall off skinny chips, most people do not put vinegar on them.

They have the Cotswolds Flour 2 or 3 times a year. Stocked up on Tipo 00 and Dark Rye today. Didn't know it was back in, but happened to come across it.

Lidl had six packs of 1.5l bottles at 49c per bottle today. It's nearly double what they were a few weeks ago, but seems to be the only game in town beyond overpriced branded Ballygowan or RiverRock

Agreed. I find Aldi fruit and veg isn't great, Lidl always is way fresher and they have a bigger variety too.

The Aldi version of nandos piri piri sauce is lovely. Only tried the lemon and herb one as I was cooking for the kids and it was well received by all.
Chopped up chicken and left it in a bag with the sauce for the day, fried it up, added noodles and a bit more sauce. Really nice. I'll try the hotter one some day the kids won't be around.

Only when they have a baby event though in my local one they often end up with packs left for a good while afterwards. I picked up a few different brands for my first and the ALDI oneswere my favourite, they stayed nice and soft.

Even if it comes back under the same name McGrath's it won't be from the same producer (Robert Roberts) so all bets are off as to quality...

That's a pretty significant contract for Robt Roberts to lose; also Aldi made a thing about it being Irish blended/packed and I'm not aware of any other tea blender of scale here other than Barrys

And if they by some chance do start selling rebadged Barrys, I'm going back to Dealz boxes of Lyons!

Rib eye Wagyu over here and Sirloin £8 a steak. I'll wait for the 50% off stickers as they won't sell. I've had the burgers and meatballs so far. Not great but grand at 50% off however the marbling does look good on the steaks. NZ meat.

Frozen I guess. Half price I would try if it ever comes here. It would be around 11 euro here so not a chance I would pay that for frozen Wagyu wannabe...

I should have said it won't necessarily be the same supplier just because it has the name McGraths on it... Robert Roberts are still up there on website as tea supplier but ALDI are v slow at updating that.
