Mystery Leak from Pipe in Attic

Hi,

I noticed a stain in the ceiling below my attic. Investigated and found the culprit is a corroded pipe dripping water at a slow rate. (Pic 01.) From having a look online, I think the pipe is the vent pipe from the electric water tank in the hot-press directly below the attic. (Pic 02.)

What is confusing me is how there is water in that pipe in the first place!
I haven't had the boiler on for months.
Could it be condensation rising up the pipe in all this heat we're having?
The pipe has probably been corroded from water sitting in it for years.
Any suggestions on how to prevent this happening again?

I'm thinking it should be a simple job to replace that portion of the pipe. (Pic 03)
I don't think there'll be much water in it, so I should be able to disconnect that joint and collect any water sitting in the pipe.

This might be a stupid question, but is that piece a standard shape of pipe, or will I have to measure it and get a pipe bent to fit?
If so, is there somewhere that will do that for me?

Therefore there's always water in that pipe up to the same level as it is in water tank.

Disconnecting lower will prove my point. :eek:

Its a safer bet to get a plumber for this leak. its not a diy fix

Thanks for the advice folks.
Got a plumber in as recommended.
In case someone else wants to know steps he took to fix:

1. Turned off HW valve at HW cylinder
2. Turned on hot tap to drain any water in pipe
3. Replaced pipe
4. HW Valve back on.
