Harvesting winter barley here this week and we are only being offered €151/ton.
This is for dried barley.
Implications for Irish green barley ~ €135 ish.

In fairness tillage was a mugs game for the last like 4years. Whereas dairying has largely done well 3 outa the last 5yrs.

Malting barley is easily making €225/t here and very short on supply.
€225/230 green should be available for Irish malt.

How’re yields shaping up?
Osr back by 50% here. Same with barley.
Wheat yields back by 20%, but proteins are good. Majority of wheat was 14%+ protein.

Loader has a 5.5 ton lift and is ok once you stay straight. The end of the pusher can drop at a fair rate due to the length of it mind.

Same with quaddies. Most here go to the near east as export. On the mostly boy's ground around ye, if you need that much hp there's something going really really wrong. Large tractors like it will soon be a thing of the past outside of the plains.

Now that things have settled (letting student loose on osr putting on glyphos/podstick, watching through fingers), would maybe do a radishes and rooting stuff Dawg anything about 5-10£ acre.
Discing monthly from late sept to force BG to break dormancy, main months of chit are sept-dec. There is work being done on forcing it to break dormancy and to sterilise seed heads.

Went to look at lovely clean oats to calm down.
Being offered a farm for longterm contract, beans are 1.5ft high and about 3 pods each. Wheat is full of wheelings and got no pre-em herbicides last autumn. When I suggested burning it all off now, cc, burn that off in Oct to flush Bg over winter and spring crop the owners jaw dropped. But he hasn't said we are out yet.

Ukraine is placed in an excellent position to produce organic cereals. If I had land there it would be my MO.
