It’s known that Matty Kenny was definetly interviewed and Brendan Cummins it seems aswell. There was talk of Fergal Hartley too but the one everyone seemed to think would get it was Sean Power but don’t know if he was even considered. The biggest surprise for me is how quick the co board has acted on all this. They knew months ago that a new manager would be required. Despite all the nonsense spouted on here and elsewhere there was only ever a couple of candidates. Nothing quick about it

OK, players talk nowadays and maybe a few of the Waterford players have heard good reports of him from a few of the Cork players. But how that become "the players have got the man they wanted" is too much of a stretch for me. Having said all that, he was highly highly regarded as a top class coach by the players during his short stint with Cork. So perhaps ye have pulled an ace from the pack by chance.

How then have co board had time to meet , discuss available candidates, contact them to arrange interview & carry out interview , & meet again to agree best candidate , all within 3 days ? What is the hurry , surly it makes sense to get the right candidate. ?

Surely there would’ve been a few who may have wanted Daly, some would’ve wanted Candidate X, a few who would’ve gone for Candidate Y etc. So hence, you’ll get stories of “they wanted X” or “their preferred choice was Y”?

It's handy for these guys to learn their trade with some top class players. Sean Power must be scratching his head. This county board aren't fit to run a seniors five a side league.

Where are the guys above from and who are they managing? You just get the impression that nothing is ever going to change within Waterford because there is the same loser second place attitude towards everything.

Don't know much about Ryan assuming he gets the job, which is still an assumption but happy to at least give the man a chance first. Kenny, who is also a 'rookie', would have been my choice above all that were mentioned including Daly, John Allen etc. Just have a severe issue with the constant gripe with managers in Waterford. There's always some quarter who never give them a chance.

Reckon he's a very good choice and a player favourite in Cork, having been involved with clubs, colleges and inter-county. Only time will tell, but on the balance I think it's a good result for us to have a neutral manager given where we've been and where we need to go next. I just hope the players are happy and they get to keep one of Dan or Eoin for a continuity of the existing culture.

Not really sure what dan offers apart from a fashion throwback to 1985

Not really sure what dan offers apart from a fashion throwback to 1985 The players had massive time for him, was a great presence both on the line and in the dressing room. Particularly on the big days his experience was invaluable. Id be more inclined to believe their take on it rather than your view from the TV screen
