Guess this is the place to ask this

Anyway, I'm applying for my first passport, and am wondering what the deal is with birth certificates, do I need to include one?
All I see about them on
www.passport.ie is:
Enclose Proof of Citizenship, if this is your first passport application, or your most recently issued passport in the case of renewal applications. Photocopies are not acceptable.
The link from 'proof of citizenship' says:
"If born in Ireland on or before 31 December 2004 -
and applying for your first Irish passport or renewing your passport if under 18 years of age – you require to submit the long form of your Irish State birth certificate which shows the names of your parents. If you are renewing your passport and are over 18 years of age you only need to submit your expired passport. "
I'm over 18, so what do I need, a 'short' birth cert?

Thanks for any help.
