Birds poo more often on black cars??

Hi folks,

I'm new to this forum and not sure if this is the right place to ask, but do you find that the birds tend to poo on black cars more often than on other colours?? I just bought a black car and already had to clean it a few times, it's driving me mad , I don't remember having such a problem with a gold or a red car..... and it's not like it's parked under a tree or something...... my hubbie even has a theory that tis is because the black car heats up more than other colours and when birds fly over it the heat causes them to drop the surprise......... have ye noticed this with your black car?

Halfords actually did a survey on this in 2016 and found red vehicles made up 18 percent of cars marked by birds, while blue followed along in second place at 14 percent. Green vehicles got off the easiest, making up just 1 percent.

Black was in the mid range.

Very interesting research...... although my wine-colured citroen wasn't as badly treated by the birds as this one

As most birds defecate as they take flight, where the car is parked is the only factor that determines if one car gets hit more than others.

My brother, who is constantly giving out about his car (black) being shít on by birds in his car park, especially after washing it, drove home and this fella landed on his bonnet... (see attached).

He was actually giving out about them prior to seeing the bird on his bonnet, which makes it all so much funnier!

Never had bird s**t on me though, until last week that is, when my black jacket was hit twice.

Had a tip for a horse that day but wasn't going to do it, but as I'd heard it's apprently lucky for a bird to s**t on you, thought wtf, and the fcuker only went and won.

I just bought a new car few weeks back too and it's jet black but however i haven't had one bird take a dump on it yet and i live in the countryside surrounded by trees. My last car was gold though and the birds took a fair liking to that colour way more often than compared to my new one

dark-painted cars absorb more sunlight and so are warmer, this might attract more birds to them., especially as a hot car will create rising air

I can confirm, as a red car owner, my car gets shat on by birds a lot.

Infact I got a carwash today after leaving it a few weeks because I felt guilty for getting a car wash during the hosepipe ban. But my car was an absolute state. Covered in bird poo! I have street parking on a busy city road so can't really wash it myself...also most places I can park it are under lamposts.

Brought it to a carwash where you put in coins to wash it yourself. Only spent a euro. Enough to scrub off the bird poo and rinse it. Will probably be covered again tomorrow morning knowing my luck.

Should that not be that 18 % of red cars (in a sample) have been bombed by birds??

I now feel quite sad for having taken the time to make a point on the internet about the nonsense result of a junk survey done for advertising purposes.:(
