Wasps nest .

I have a wasp nest in my boiler house shed , has anyone any suggestions to removing it .

I don't necessarily want to burn the shed down because , ya know , the oil burner is in it , but all suggestions will be considered.

Bats eat wasps. So get a load of bats and lock them in your shed for a couple of days and that should sort your wasp problem. Then make another thread here, on how to get bats out of your shed.

There may be a problem with getting bats out as they and their roosts are protected in law

In August the wasps will have finished their summer work and will fly around drunk and looking for fights.

A can of wasp spray is about 6 yo yo, spray the **** out of them and run away very fast. Do it at night or very early in the morning while they are asleep.

How will I know they're asleep , do they wear pyjamas also I have previous with drunk wasps at a bottle bank.

When it goes dark they sleep...especially the drunk ones.. And when they sleep they stop buzzing and snore instead .. Cover yourself though..

If it's small enough to cover with a plastic bag just go in after dark, put the bag over the nest, seal it around the top of the nest as best you can, pull the nest away, tighten the seal, put all in another bag and either burn it, crush it, or just leave it aside for a few days until the wasps are dead

Thanks all , the usual high standards in replies.

I've had a look it seems to the size of telephone book in between a dryer and wall.

The best option would be to demolish the shed

If I'm alive , I may do updates.

what you need to do is go up to the nest, find the biggest wasp you can and punch it in the head. the rest of the wasps wont go near you after that.

I saw this video on YT a few weeks back.
Thought it was a brilliant invention to kill all the wasps over a couple of hours.

Basically he put a metal wire on the end of a garden strimmer motor and put it close to the entrance of the wasp nest.

Wasps usually return to a shed or attic at the same spot and around the same time each evening. Use a vacuum cleaner (the extension tube) at that spot, or rig a few fly papers to partially block the entrance point, when it's quiet. Expect to catch a hundred or more before the problem is solved.

If using a vacuum cleaner, squirt some wasp spray at intervals down the tube to kill the captured wasps.
