Lads, Matt does a great job a real pro, but jebus the amount of ads these days are really starting to piss me off.

And the crappy traffic reports, does anyone listen to this crap, its the same traffic jams on the same roads every day for the last 10 years

It was. I listened to it on podcast today. It's interviews like this which remind me of how good Matt Cooper can be. It's frustrating that we don't see enough of that side of him any more.

He had a selfie on his Twitter with a bunch of fellas from his TV show and he had to write down the women were to busy for the selfie ...people were criticising him for writing down the women bit

People are in fear of their careers now you see.

Matt obviously is covering all the bases...he felt he had to mention lack of women in the photo before he was accused of being a sexist pig. And the same reason why he is so PC friendly on TLW too.

It must be a difficult time to be in the public eye. Got to keep your wits about you.

Jennifer Gannon was discussing a new Irish TV drama coming out on tv3. Yet again, she focused in on it having a strong female character and having a refugee related story line.

Seems to me that Jennifer is happy as long as the PC boxes and quotas are ticked and she is less than interested in the quality of the TV itself.

Has she ever reviewed a tv programme without reducing it to an identity politics segment?

Matt of course will never challenge her, he really is gutless these days.

well if she doesn't pick a pc "approved" show, she always picks a silly reality show or Kardashian type of show....I don't know who takes her reviews of shows seriously

Such inconveniences as quality don't matter any more. It is the correct politics that counts.

The current LW is a joke, pathetic stuff. Once upon a time I actually enjoyed listening to Matt Cooper, but not anymore. The Eamon Dunphy era is still the definitive version of the last word, for me.

I actually think he does love that stuff. It features quiet a bit and he must have some editorial power.
They have the TV section, movie section, music section...all fairly light stuff that he giggles through every week. The 1st 30mins on a Friday is a liberal love in of 'stories not covered' previously during the week...usually more easy going news.

Today FM did the same with Sam Smyth's Sunday show when they ditched him. And they're dumbing down TLW over time also. It won't be around for much longer

Maybe Matt is spreading himself too thinly, what with the TV3 show and all the other writing he does. There are still only 24 hours in the day and he has a wife and family too. Talking about Love Island and other non-news items means he doesn't have to bother doing any preparatory work.

He has worked for just about every newspaper and TV station in Ireland. Something tells me he's a compelling but somewhat volatile person to work with. He's probably better off staying in the land of podcasts where he can do his own thing.

...becasuse his Sunday show on Newstalk hadn't many listeners. He fell out with Denis O'Brien on the way out and he had quit RTE Radio 1 to go to Newstalk. Where else is there?

Did he not do Newstalk breakfast at one stage and the Sunday morning slot as mentioned

As above, Dunphy has worked everywhere at this stage at one time or another and just like many of his peers he's fallen out with Denis O'Brien too. I'd love to hear him do a regular Drivetime type show again myself.

I regularly listen to his podcast - "The Stand", which by all accounts must be doing quite well, as he's recently linked up with Tesco for sponsorship/advertising.

This after Matt pulling her up for lusting after one of the Swedish football players. "Are you objectifying men" said Matt "if we did the same thing we would be persecuted". "Someone has to do it" was her "caught out" reply.
Proves third wave "feminists" just want to censor others.
