Welcome to the Waterford GAA discussion thread.

This is consistently the most active thread don the GAA forum. As a result, discussion can get quite heated. But there are certain things posters must realise are simply not OK to post:

- Personal abuse of anyone be they other posters, players, managers, referees, pundits etc. Any personal abuse will result in an infraction or a ban.

- Rumours about players'/managers'/anyone's personal lives. This should be self explanatory. Apart from being a dickish thing to do, it can lead to legal trouble for Boards.

- Trolling. Again, self explanatory. Trolls will be banned for a long time.

- Accusations of trolling. Report a post if you suspect it to be trolling. Do not call a troll out on thread as this will be considered back seat modding.

- Speculation into the identity of another poster. This is a site-bannable offence.

This list is not exhaustive. Either myself or another mod may add to this as we see fit. Just because a certain behaviour isn't listed, doesn't mean you can't be banned for it. The general Boards.ie rule of Don't be a Dick always applies.

If you feel a post breaks the rules, simply click this underneath the post in question to report the post and a mod will deal with it as they see fit.

So be civil to each other and happy posting.

Given that the thread regularly descending into tit for tat insults between posters, From now on, it won't be a card but a ban straight away for anything like this. The mod warning is clear in the first post but yet people still ignore it.
Also, I'd like to remind people of the ban on discussing players'/managers'/officials' private lives without any substance. You can be getting into libelous territory there. So a zero tolerance policy will be enforced as well.

When are the county board going to resign?

How come everyone else gets exactly what they want and we just have to put up with whatever we are told and don't say a word!
They are an absolute disgrace and it went right through the management and players this year.

All Ireland final last year to worst team in Munster, I am so angry that these absolute dopes are still in charge!

Absolutely no confidence in them picking a new manager.

They should all resign now and get someone else in to pick the manager, someone who actually even has half of one ball would be a great start!

If its the same process as when Derek McGrath was appointed, a recruitment team was put in in place to interview potential candidates, involving ex-players (I think James Murray & Stephen Frampton to name a couple) amongst a few other respected figures in the county. The recommendation is made by the recruitment team and put forward to the co board who ratifies it. So that way at least the candidates are recommended by people who know and understand the game. But you're right, if its down to the county board I wouldn't like to predict who might be considered...

Interesting that the 2 games we actually played nearest to our potential in were the 2 'homes games', at the GG V Tipp and Thurles v Cork. I have no doubt the fact they were not Tipp or Corks home grounds either played a factor. If the games were played within the county you'd like to think it would have been enough for us to get over the line in both these games.
Looking ahead to next year, the Leinster Council and GAA have backed down in the past week with fixtures, now is our chance to take down the biggest bully of all, the Munster Council. The precedent has been set and we should nominate Fraher Field as our home venue for next year and Nowlan Park as the alternative venue if they decide the Fraher doesn't 'pass health and safety' ($$$). Limerick have a big following and no doubt their fans will travel wherever but im sure would love the novelty of a trip to KK.
Clare like us don't have massive support for every game and I think Fraher Field is well capable of hosting a Munster Championship clash between both sides with the attendance capacity of 6.6k. There have been recent clashes between both sides in Munster that attracted barely 10k in Thurles.
I do believe Munster council will try and fix both for Thurles but in light of all what has happened this year we have to dig in our heels. Playing the games in Thurles is no disadvantage to either Clare or Limerick and were looking at another season with our backs to the walls again.

There's not a hope that Fraher Field could be used because of it's limited capacity. It would mean thousands of fans who would like to go could not get tickets like what happened in Newbridge.
It is interesting that the Leinster council are more flexible than the Munster council to games outside their province.
Also what about Colm Bonnar as an option for new senior manager. He has a lot of experience between WIT, Wexford, various club teams and now Carlow who he has managed to promotion in the league and now championship.

But look at the posts above, these people up in arms complaining about having to go to a neutral venue for our 'home games' will have to accept that they'll be sitting at home watching it if their that caught up on principals. Nowlan Park is the best way forward.
Colm Bonnar is a decent shout. Better than a lot of the names being bandied around for sure. Also he lives in the county and knows the scene well. His record with WIT is pretty phenomenal. I think he has won 5 Fitzgibbon Cups over a period of 10 years.
John Meyler was seen as someone like Bonner who was around the block with many years aswell, managing Carlow, Kerry and Wexford before eventually landing a the big job in Cork (Wexford were in a hole when he was in charge of them, as with Bonner).He has Cork motoring well.

He managed Wexford a few years ago and didnt do much with them

Afaik

Teams in the QFs- Ballygunner, De La Salle and Mount Sion top there groups and Abbeyside go through as best 2nd from Grp A

Passage, Roanmore, Lismore,Dungarvan, Fourmilewater, Tallow, Ballyduff Upper and An Rinn into the Prem round. 4 winners into QFs and 4 losers into relagation zone

Thank you for that. A bit of confusion whether it's mount sion or passage. Wlr announced it's passage in their early sports reports

Anyone knw when the pictures of the new Walsh Park will be released ???

are we going to play our NHL games in Fraher Field next year, if there building in Walsh Park. Galway and Dublin will be the only games which will attract big crowds

Wouldn't see any benefit in that. When you step aside that should be it, let it go and move on. Were not talking about Alex Ferguson or Brian Cody here.
I don't know exactly how many different talk-shows or interviews hes done since he stepped aside 2 weeks ago, and more power to him that's what he wants to be doing. But to come out and say he sees himself coming back in a couple years when the core of the team is 27 or 28 sums it up for me. Its like pretty girl that you don't want anymore but don't want anyone else to have her either.
