Is your phone rooted or not? As far as I know there is no app that throttles the CPU clock if the device is not rooted.

In reality all it does it close the background process.

Yes rooting would be your best bet.
Then you could look at under clocking or using a different CPU governor using an app. SetCPU is one I've used in the past. Think it may be free by the dev on XDA. Or buy it on the Play store...or use something similar.

Yeah, sorry. I noticed that afterwards. I had a VPN on when downloading it and I forgot. I never even used it, as it asked for my ID, and I removed a load of apps including that the yeterday.

But the above app, got pass the checks to be available in the store, only removed because of the news breaking about it.

Plenty of questionable and pointless apps available on the store. RAM cleaners, battery savers, performance boosters and so on.

A lot of the apps that are dodgy are legitimate apps at first and then get bought out by dodgy app companies and suddenly things change.

Apple innocent in the whole thing?

Targeted ads don't affect me when I use adblock. What they they gaining from me. I like technology so ****. It should be obvious when I selected android.
