Won 11 championship games from 21 (a large chunk of those wins were in qualifiers against the likes of westmeath, offaly, laois). All this with an exceptionally good team. DMG gave it his all and deserves credit for the league title and thanks for the effort but I don't feel his tenure has been a hugh success as some people seem to think as to why people would want him back, I don't understand. The fact we won the league in his second season we definitely should have pushed on and won at least a provincial title.

Gilroy was excellent in the interview with DMG. what will happen next with us? the next Waterford manager will get 2 to 3 years and then DMG will return. it was quite obvious from the above mentioned interview.

Typical county board again, they should be advertising the fact that they are moving forward but again it is cloak and dagger stuff to find out about anything! How hard would it be to put a post on their Facebook or Twitter to the plans and a great announcement about the great news on the planning permission etc!
Mastermcgrath wrote: » The difference with Gilroy is at least he had been successful as a football manager. Ryan has never won anything. Its 10 years since Wexford footballers got to that AI semi final

Mastermcgrath wrote: » There is a worrying lack of candidates within the county if he is one of the front runners. For me the only viable candidate within the county so far is Sean Power. I like the idea of Paul Flynn aswell. He is very highly rated as a coach and was an absolute genius of a player. But management is a different ball game. Of the other names mentioned; Hartley made a b*****x of the u21s a few years ago. Forget about him. Ken McGrath would be romantic choice but truthfully the noises coming out his time in charge of Mount Sion were not great. Peter Queally only barely missed out on the job when Derek got it a few years ago. Could be in the mix again. As for this Jason Ryan thing, if that names starts cropping up again it says it all. Ultimately I believe we will be looking back outside the county for the right man.
