Little things you didn't expect about being an adult

Most of children spend a lot of time wondering what their life will look like when they're all grown up. They dream not only about their future jobs, but also about their future home, holidays, partners.

Then the time comes and they find out that things are a little bit different than they planned.

For me it was when I was 20 years old and I moved into a little studio apartment and I realised how quickly toilet paper is used and how often it needs to be bought.

It also took me a few weeks to stop walking to the empty fridge every few minutes in hopes that it was magically refilled with food.

I didn't realize how much toilet paper women use. The first time a girl stayed over she used the whole roll when she was putting on make-up. Being a poor student i was a bit shocked. I had to steal more from the college bathrooms.

The thing that got me was just how you go from being young to middle aged to old in a blink of an eye. There is no real 'defining' moments, it all just blends in to one. Time is so defining when you are younger. I see 2002 to 2007 as a teenager was a huge shift, 2013 to 2018, not so much.

Also everything won't just work out in the end and also life is what it is. It's not a comforting thought that life just happens, there is no fairness or justness, good things happen and bad things happen and there is no monumental lead up. Things can literally change in a split second as innocuous as blinking or yawning.
