In this week's edition of The Clare Champion, the asylum seekers housed in The King Thomond Hotel, Lisdoonvarna, Co Clare tell their story. I have never read such ' cock and bull ' stories. One asylum seeker from Kuwait ( the 4th richest country in the world) came here because her husband is from Bahrain. An asylum seeker from Zimbabwe came here because of the lack of LGBT rights in her country even though she is not gay! An asylum seeker from Nigeria, who has spent years in the UK described Lisdoonvarna as a " dead end " and hopes to get out of there as soon as possible! How dare she speak like that! A lady from Albania is here because she fell out with her boyfriend!
Asylum seeking is the greatest scam ever to be perpetrated against the Irish people. Thanks to the Clare Champion, the scammers are exposed for what they are.

I'm sure, in a message board on the other side of the world, there are people giving out about Irish people coming over and causing hassle or being a nuisance.

It's the way the world works. People travel. Some are nice, some are dickheads, some don't have opportunities in their country and are trying to do their best.

A total of 93% voted to reject the arrival of Direct Provision in the town so almost all of the place is racist nazis.

At a public meeting in the Pavilion, Lisdoonvarna, on February 23, King Thomond Hotel proprietor Marcus White said that he would listen to the views of local people, if they were opposed to Direct Provision or the arrival of asylum seekers.

On February 28, a secret ballot of parish residents was held in the Pavilion.
A total of 93% voted 197 to 15, to reject the arrival of Direct Provision in the town.

However, the Direct Provision contract was subsequently signed by Mr White, who did not attend that meeting.

The Department of Education says it will continue to engage with Lisdoonvarna National School as it deals with an influx of pupils from the recently opened direct provision centre there.
However, it’s stopping short of providing called-for additional supports.
Thus far, only a half-time language teaching post has been allocated and Junior Education Minister Mary Mitchell O’Connor says the school can continue to apply for more supports.

But yeah, tell the locals that they're racists because they suspected they were about to become a poorly resourced dumping ground for migrants, and their children's classrooms turned into a half arsed language school, which no doubt you'd be more then happy to send your kids.

Don't worry OP they are not 'refugees' - their cases have yet to be processed. The liars and fraudsters will be dealt with in time.

There were literally a bunch of Breitbart boyos, from Dublin, in Lisdoon at the start of the year, putting up posters, going in to pubs asking people if they were local, generally pussing people off. I think you're dying for someone to say the town is full of racists. Nobody has, I certainly wouldn't.
