Hey all. I am pretty useless at pricing stuff for selling on, could anyone give me a quick base for this-

I have a new Maplin mobo, cpu and ram kit that is already put together by them and tested etc. It RRP'ed for ~€900 in their shops.
How much will I actually get for it? Although I'm tempted to keep the ram for myself since I have the same stick that could use a partner, how would that affect price?
All parts would be under warranty with the manufacturer and would need to be registered, as Maplin shut down.

Intel Core i7-7700 3.6 GHz QuadCore 8 MB Cache CPU
ASUS STRIX Z270F GAMING Motherboard

CPU - about 180-200. Board - About 100. With the ram - probably about 350ish for the bundle overall.

New Intel Coffee Lake CPU's and Ryzen 2 have really hurt value on older i7's.

Unless you plan upgrading to a significantly better CPU or have specific demands of >4 cores it'd make sense to hang onto it as it's still an excellent CPU.

Thanks, I already have the exact same new kit for my own PC, this is an unused spare. I'm upgrading from a 2500k and also a 780 to a 1070 so looking forward to it. That's why I'm tempted to keep the ram and make my bundle 16gb, although people put a bit of a premium on bundles already stuck together (people were buying these at 900 for god sake) so I'll see what buyers think.

I'd say no-one was buying at 900. It's one of the reasons Maplin probably closed. Rather than aim at high volume decent prices, they opted for a low volume at outrageous prices model.

I get that stores can't possibly compete with online prices but Maplins were a total joke. Items that cost €250 online were €5-600 in there. PC World/Currys look like a charity in comparison to them.

Unfortunately the price of i7-6700 and i7-7700 has dramatically fallen thanks to the likes of Intel's new i5's starting at £150 that are 6-core versus the 4-core of the older i7. Same with AMD Ryzen 2, 2600X, 6-core/12-thread CPU for a small bit more.

People still want i7-6700/7700 obviously when they've an older S1151 motherboard but as a bundle it'll probably not be the easiest to sell at anything other than ballpark figures outlined above. Even CEX sell the i7-7700 for €180 with 2 year warranty and they've been selling on adverts for similar money the last while.

Very much so, amazing bargain for him. The card alone's worth 250-280.

Only problem there the FX-6200 is a bit of a mad bottleneck to the 980. But don't encourage him to upgrade to another FX processor on that socket as they are all hopelessly outdated and not good performers.

He should sell the motherboard, FX-6200 and 16GB ram, then get a new Intel 8100, €60 board + 8GB DDR4 ram. (Or Ryzen 1600)

However not an urgent priority as most games should be OKish for now, but some CPU heavy ones will bottleneck badly. (battlefield 1 64p online is a good example of the type of games that run badly on FX cpus)

Well, the difference there being you have the PSU and air cooler included which would be worth the extra €50, otherwise I'd have said €150 for a 2500K, P67 + 12GB DDR3 is very reasonable!

People often look for old 1155 motherboards 2nd hand, so even as parts the bundle would probably sell for more than 200, but as an actual bundle, should be pretty easy to shift at 200. And to be honest selling stuff in parts can be a huge pain in the ass and time consuming!

Back then, total of the above was 975 sterling, pretty happy with how long it's given me (and still does the job but pushing it now).

Nick the SSD for your new build, won't really add anything extra to the resale value. Same for the PSU, a great model but it's actual value would not be represented selling it whole. Maybe take that also and replace with a €35 PSU?

The FX series is worth very little now due to how badly it has aged/lack of any upgrade options, so the CPU and board are unfortunately worth very little.

Another option would be to sell the FX-8350 + board and ram (get about €150), just buy something like a Ryzen 1600 (€150) + B350M motherboard/8GB DDR4 (€150). Twice as fast as the FX-8350.

Not much outlay and huge upgrade. Your graphics card would still be OK-ish for now (about the same as a GTX1050), when budget allows, a GTX1060 6GB or RX580 4GB at about €300 would be a massive upgrade. You would get €80 or so for your HD7950.

Have I underpriced this?

I thought 395 was reasonable with some leeway for bargaining. 370 is a good offer IMO but I just wanted a 2nd opinion on my pricing.

I would say it's definitely not underpriced. It's a huge, old clunker of a thing and a brand new €600 gaming laptop would be just as fast, as well as lighter and with a warranty.

I'd say €370 is really good price. I had one recently with a HD7950M, 8GB RAM, same CPU and 1TB HDD and I sold it for €250.

Thanks for that, the i5-2500 is old alright but still performing well for everyday use.

It is, but it falls down badly in CPU heavy games. Try playing Battlefield 1 online 64 with it for example, and you'd get frequent bad framerate drops and under-utilisation of the GTX1060 (bottlenecking). That's what I meant in terms of it being outdated.

An upgrade to an i7-2600 for about €80 would solve the problem, or else a i7-3770 if the motherboard supports 3rd gen would be even better at about €120.
