Medtronic recruitment process - couple of questions

Hi,
I have an aptitude test coming up for Medtronic, and I've heard of some people not being called to interview because they believed that they scored too highly on the aptitude test. I have a track record of scoring higher than the "above average" level on these sort of tests. Is this something to be concerned about, and would it benefit me to purposely get the more tricky questions deliberately wrong? The position I'm shooting for is a regular Gen Op placement, but I'm looking at it as a stepping stone for advancement through the company (should I make it that far).

Secondly, I believe there is a medical examination at some stage in their recruitment process. What exactly is involved here? Do they test for recreational drugs, or more specifically cannabis?

Yeah, I've gone through that apllication process. I was succesful while some other lads I know done it and they failed.

The key in the test is speed. If you can get all (or nearly all) of the 65 questions done inside the 10 minute time period then, you will be sorted. Of Course, you'd have to have a hugh % of them answered correctly but they are sh1t easy. Sample question: Which of these numbers is in the middle; 3,4,5 etc.

And yes, they will take people with 3rd level qualifications for the operator work as they have a huge number of positions to fill quickly.

I did this yesterday and while the test was easy the time allowed was a challenge i think i didnt answer 4 but what I did answer I got right so I think 1 answered 56 right.

Also what are they looking for with the personality tests?

Essentially they want to see if you are a "team player".

I passed the apptitude and now I have an interview next week, I assume theres nothing to be worried about with this. I have been told by the recruitor that the starting wage is 12.84 an hour for evenings and its goes up 1 euro every 3 months for a year and then levels off ,17 euro and hour after one year isnt bad money for this type of work

No, the interview isn't difficult at all. Its only a few simple questions like "why do you want this job" etc. They wont be the deciding factors in you getting the job (you already have it from passing the aptitude test) its more to get an idea that you will be happy to work for them...

I had the interview on mondaywhich I felt went fine and the medical on tuesday ,im a little worried as I have been drinking alot at the weekends,do you think I have the job?

Yeah, you'd want to have been in very rough shape to fail the medical.

IMO, you have the job. They dont send you for the med if they aren't thunking of hiring you. As for your previous question about preogression, there are a number of job vacancies posted up on internal noticeboards every few weeks. So it looks like there is opportunities for progression..

I was offered the job in medtronic today however they wanted me to start next monday but my current company require 1 full weeks notice so I told them ideally I wont be able to start till monday week,they said they would get back to me but surely they wont go back on the offer

i have done the assessment and the interview and am doing the medical next week. the assessment was easy about 60 questions of like tick the box type test. eg 123456789 pick the middle number? ans, 5. and 2,5,9 multiply the biggest by the smallest number and subtract the middle number. simple questions like that. the interview didnt seem like a big formal interview. but had questions like why do you want to work here? what are your weakness and strengths? do you know anything about the company and some questions on your previous jobs fairly quick and easy

I had an assessment about 3 weeks ago you can wear what you want to to that it's just an assessment, for the interview then it's formal wear

I have to sit the Medtronic assessment in 2 days time and the invite said it will be an hour and a half long... From this thread it seems much shorter than that. Has anyone sat the assessment recently and is it still the same?

Hi!

I just went to a medical exam for a QA Engineer position at Medtronic and I full on fainted after they took a blood sample (it always happens to me). Do you think that could affect my chances of getting the job? We were only 3 people for the psychometric assessment so I was quite hopeful that if I got to the medical exam, it meant I was almost there. Now I’m afraid I just missed the train ðŸ˜“

I do not think so, as this happens to a lot of perfectly healthy people, so Nurses are aware of that...
