Welcome to the Mayo GAA discussion thread - Chapter 3, yer trotting them out quicker than a Mills & Boon Romance !.

This is one of the most active forums on Boards.ie. As a result, discussion can get quite heated. But there are certain things posters must realise are simply not OK to post:

- Personal abuse

- Rumours about players'/managers'/anyone's personal lives.

- Trolling.

- Accusations of trolling. Report a post if you suspect it to be trolling.

First timers should definitely be excited about going to Thurles. It's no state of the art stadium granted but it's still Mecca of sorts, no GAA season really feels complete without a visit

Tipp beat Cork by the skin of their teeth in 2016

They then lost to Kerry

They then won a qualifier v Derry, by a point

They beat a Galway team that cannot buy a championship win in Croke Park.

Then they were not embarrassed in an All Ireland SF

In 2017 Tipp lost a game that they should have won to Cork , beat Cavan and then lost to Armagh.

And this year they beat Waterford and got hammered by Cork

In the meantime Mayo lost twice to Galway (early) and Dublin (late) and beat Fermanagh, Kildare, Westmeath, Tyrone, Tipp, Derry, Clare, Cork, Roscommon and Kerry, they also drew with Dublin, Roscommon and Kerry.

Tipp are living on the reputation of beating Cork and Galway two season ago

Mayo are living on the reputation of consistently going deep in the championship since 2011.

It's not arrogance, it's reality, Tipp are nowhere near Mayo.

Not so sure about that,there were periods in the second half pre our fortuitous second goal we were looking decidedly nervous.

The last Kerry team were a bit like that too. Cork would beat them but they would return the favor later on

nope, I like Tipp footie people, they get the short end of the stick due to it being a hurling county. I would like to see them progress another few rounds, but that is unlikely now as Mayo should beat them.

I’d expect it to be similar to 2016- mayo always in control. If mayo do indeed beat tipp at a canter, it will set tipp back years in terms of football

This is not arrogance. I am just stating the most obvious things. We have a deeper quality in the team against tipp.

I was at the games in the qualifiers last year and we were like a team that had a skinful of beer the night before in some of these games. We had no drive in our play and looked really tired. I don't see the same this year but again this is just my opinion like yours is.

I know some will go mad with this but the sending off cost us the Galway game. We would have beaten Galway with 15 on the pitch and I think if we get to CP, we are back in business.

When you think about it the competition for Dublin is not great or not as good as it should be. Mayo past their best wondering how long they have left with this group of players, Donegal doing well in Ulster but in the grand scheme of things they are in transition and not near the level of 2012. Kerry turning to youth in the hope it creates a spark for them in the All Ireland series again. Tyrone,Monaghan,Galway etc will just be happy with All Ireland semi final spots.

I don't know what you are drinking but Mayo are the best team in the qualifier. No one will want to get us. We are playing better than this time last year. Tipp are a notch or two above Limerick but at the end of the day they are no where near Mayo. We should be winning this with a good few points to spare.

There is always the possibility of a flat performance but I'd still expect us to get through. We have too much quality to not get through.

Sampled some fine hurling games down there pre the brand new motorway.
