Oh absolutely. They will see it as every day they delay the implementation is another day of babies saved. The problem with fundamentalists is they don't care what anyone else thinks or wants. Because women in Ireland are finally free to choose. That is a reason to celebrate.

Look: You still have a choice. You can choose to not have an abortion. No one's going to make you do it. No one's even going to suggest it. But you have that choice. It's all yours. Take it. Use it.

But now, ALL women have a choice. Meaning those who need an abortion can now get one. That's THEIR choice. Yay!

You were preaching about democracy so I'm simply asking for you opinion on a matter where a majority will is concerned. Do you believe there is a majority will in the country for abortion for any reason up until 12 weeks? Why do you keep stonewalling the question?

If the offical result matches the poll, you might want to set a few up for some of the no side on here too going by some of their comments.

Not only them. Remember when we were asked to vote again on an EU matter in an unseemly quick time, because the first vote wasn't "acceptable"? Put it another way, if the No voters had got their way do you really think another repeat referendum wouldn't have come along down the line? Now that it looks like it's passed, do you think the Irish people will be asked to vote on the matter again? Though I do agree with you that there will be legal and political challenges afoot in the aftermath.

The problem was that they didn't have anyone else. What the No side needed was a new Civic grouping to advocate that the proposal went too far but that hard cases needed to be legislated for. No was a motley crew of right wing Catholic fundamentalists whose views were well known and who's personalities are roundly disliked by normal people. No also needed the experience of a major political party to shepherd the campaign, the lack of experience with presenting an inclusive likable campaign was telling.

That said, it wouldn't have changed the result, just made it a little tighter.
