Is Damian Dempsey Boring?

I do not get his appeal. The most clichéd lyrics about tired old subjects we have heard a million times before and he is supposed to a 'people's prophet'.

Like no one ever wrote a song about life being **** before him.

I honestly can't see why he is considered so amazing.

Once again I am enlightened by After Hours. I can picture what this means (metaphorically - I'm trying to resist making a literal mental picture) but LMAO.
I always thought of Damien Dempsey as a sort of Christy Moore lite but I am probably wronging him. Anybody who has the courage to make a living off people willing to pay to hear them perform has my respect.
