Silly season is still in full swing as we all know with Williams and Sauber not having confirmed their line ups as yet.

What are people's opinions on the Halo and Alfa Romeo for 2018?

I think it really depends what happens. It could be a road train like Monaco can be sometimes or it could be like last year totally crazy. A lot happened in last years race. The two Force India drivers were racing each other and collided causing a safety car and the infamous he brake tested me incident happened between Vettel and Hamilton. Riccardo started all the way down in 10th after crashing in qualifying but ended up winning the race because of luck and good strategy. Other things happened as well can't remember them all.

Pity so many promising drivers fell off. Kobayashi was another one.

Sky have a new format f1 show this season. Jesus it's terrible. Drivers playing a silly darts game, golf etc and generally having access to 2 drivers for pretty much the entire show and just throwing silly questions at then.

Jaime Alguersuari, he had huge potential but fell victim of the RB program. There is a video of him somewhere arguing with Marko in the garage, he was gone soon after that.

Karun when commentating during FP2 session is a wealth of knowledge. I'd agree we don't get enough during the race but he does get good slots in when the pitlane opens before the race.

The only one of the current crop who do a decent technical piece is Karun Chandhok. But not enough unfortunately, C4 rarely seem to give him the time on their live races and I'm watching sky when C4 are highlights only so don't know if I'm missing some then.

The Welsh guy with the coiffe? It's exactly his brand of banter that's they use to string the show out for hours before and after the race. They would be better off cutting the banter and starting the show 15 mins before lights out with a quick recap on quali etc. Instead they use duffers like Jones to introduce 45mins of soap opera style 'lewis. Love'em or hate'em?' before and after lights out.

Analysis has gone out the window. I don't bother with the pre or post shows I get the analysis from podcasts and boards. Jones is just there to stall between moderately interesting features. I'd prefer if they cut the foreplay and get back to basics.

The BBC show was fantastic. It brought f1 coverage forward years.
The main crew were brilliant and they put together a good show. Then you had the red button show which in their early days was super. They would be based in various teams hospitality area each race and would have a brilliant line up of guests and it tended to feel quite free. Sky had the same opportunity but they seem to stick very much to a set formula now - feed in all the interviews from love segments with Simon then cut to teds notebook.
I think teds notebook should be confined to quali and something more special put there instead.
Remember Eddie Jordan in the red bull pool......

I prefered the BBC line up the most. Steve Jones is ok. He is not the worst but does tend to overdo things at times especially the introductions.

They're all as terrible as each other imo. The James Allen years were rough with the MS/FIArrari dominance and his obvious love for the driver and team. That and the overtaking drought made it so hard to watch that I switched off for most of 04.

That’s great news. Driver weight is such a random advantage to have. Hulk has always been heavier than most drivers and it cost him. Sutil tried not using a drink bottle in a race to save a kilo weight. He neatly passed out.

I thought Ben used it first, kind of his thing. "Lights out, away we go". Found it wierd sky started with same. Open to correction though.
