8,000 Starbucks outlets closing because of racism.

Starbucks is facing a fresh onslaught of criticism after a black man was allegedly denied access to a Los Angeles shop's bathroom as he was not a paying customer – despite a non-paying white patron being given the entry code to the toilet. This comes video emerged after two black men were arrested in another Starbucks franchise recently. Starbucks Corp today announced it would close 8,000 US stores in the afternoon of May 29 to train nearly 175,000 staff members on how to prevent racial discrimination in stores.

Now, why not just directly question the employee(s) responsible for giving access to one customer and not the other? Why not deal with things on a case by case basis as they arise. This is the same company that discontinued their Christmas cups out of fear of offense. 8,000 shops **** down to train 125,000 workers because a literally a handful of eejits went viral. Gotta be woke!

The same would happen here if someone refused to leave a premises when asked. Think it is a public order offence.

They were also giving the cops slack about working for poor wages.

Two little Lord Fauntleroys who got called out for their dickish behaviour but are rescued as other Middle-Class activists come to their rescue, labelling it all as something else.

They'll get a great pay out to make it all go away, the activists will have a cause of the week to fight for, the only real loser is the Asian girl on minimum wage who lost her job for following policy and not putting up with sh1t.

I've put down my thoughts on why I think it probably was just a normal "toilets are for customer use only" situation. You can see those kind of signs all over the world. You've never been to a foodcourt that has signs up saying "seating area is for paying customers only" or similar?

Only in America would asking someone to leave an establishment because they aren't a paying customer be seen as obviously racist.

I am quite confident that you are just looking for something that isn't there, in this case.

In reality here somebody working a low paying job at a f'ing Starbucks has lost their job because of bandwagon jumping eejits like yourself.

More than likely they were told by higher ups to ask people who are using seats and tables but are not buying anything to leave. That's pretty normal in cafes and restaurants. Trust me.

Personally, I think it's pretty sexist to put a woman out of her job because she was just following company policy. I'm sure you totally agree. Look, I'll use your own logic to convince you. I am not a woman and I've asked customers to leave an establishment and called the cops when they wouldn't. I didn't have to leave my job. This woman did the same as me but she had to leave her job. Sexism? You must agree.

Pretty straight forward case of racism this. Calling the cops on 2 lads waiting for the mate is insane, especially in the US, with there trigger happy cops, who have reputation of shooting African Americans for no good reason.

Apparently, this kind of thing happens to African Americans a lot in the US, the police being called on them for no reason and them being arrested or even worse being killed for no reason. Its pretty insane over there sometimes.

Whichever narrative is true there is one important lesson in this story that people on the left should be concerned with.

The fact that it your a low wage employee you have no rights in the USA and you can be sacked immediately even though you were following procedure to improve a megacorps image.

The modern Left is a drift from its past traditions and purpose.

I think as so many of the Left today have become well to do they have drifted in to trendy activism, much of the worst excesses were lifted so to the ideologues become dominant, usually from well to do backgrounds.

The Left todays is eating itself and I wouldn't be surprised if it fades away

Yep[. And as for closing for a day for training, it's a good PR tactic. I do think after something like this you need to make sure staff know how to behave. It doesn't mean you need a full day with every store closed though.
However this is a serious issue for starbucks. It's really hit their image. Closing for a day to insure staff get training is a very good way of making sure training is given and making sure the public know starbucks is doing something.

Starbucks needed a wake-up call. They got too big for their britches. It was just a matter of time before they got called on some behaviour towards their customers that would blow back in their face. They have killed many small mom & pop javahouses in America. I am sitting at this moment in a different javahouse (using their free wifi hotspot) that I believe has more atmosphere and better coffee than Starbucks. We are surrounded by Starbucks stores (3 within easy walking distance), and they have that corporate feel. I like to relax in javahouses, and corporate atmospheres are too much like work.
