Probably time to open a new thread for the 2018 season?

Silly season is still in full swing as we all know with Williams and Sauber not having confirmed their line ups as yet.

What are people's opinions on the Halo and Alfa Romeo for 2018?

the tyres need to have a set level of grip for a certain no of laps then fall off the cliff over a lap or 2 . the tyres slowly loose their life really gradually . there is no real difference between them.

I think there's a bit too much luck involved with the tyres. Won't always affect the top few but there's times people put on a softer tyre and it's expected to go off more quickly and they'll need to stop again but it ends up not happening.

Is there something to be said for just a single tyre type at each race, and plan around that for pit stops. The difference better the compounds at times is annoying.

I think today really highlighted another thing, which is that aerodynamically these cars are a complete nightmare to follow when trying to pass. You could see a few times in the DRS zone, a car would get close but not get passed, and when following in the next turn the car would wash out and run wide, saw it a good bit with the hairpin and final corner combo.

And you can see above with the bargeboards, these things are so complex now that without clean air they just don't function correctly.

that very harsh. he thought the door was being held open for him to pass.

Well, I woke up this morning a couple of hours early for the race, stuck on SSF1, and in my not yet awake state arrived in a surreal reality where Ted Kravitz was walking in and out of the different teams centres on the paddock, handing out fortune cookies?! Someone please tell me that I wasn’t having a seriously twisted dream!

Well C4 are definitely going out on a high.
Their team leave Sky in the halfpenny place all the time.
I'd rather pay for the C4 coverage any day.

With sky you can get it pretty much for free if your willing to ring them once a year and tell them to cancel. Sky coverage is painful but the best if you want all races,
I generally record and fast forward anything that has Ted, Ant, DeRista and Johnnie Herbert in it, Simon Lazenby and Crofty are tough going too but mandatory as they are stuck in everything
