Freeman was told not to play for his club the week of the Donegal game, yet he was only brought on at the death, what is the point of that? afaik thats the only
game time he saw. Heard he was poor for Aghamore at the weekend in the SFC and got pulled off free taking duties

I contacted the Connacht Council office via e mail today.

Here's the news re tickets for the May 13th clash.

Tickets will be on sale two weeks before the game.

Sad to hear the news re Alan Freeman,a great servant of the Green and Red.

Not surprised re Jason Gibbons,he has significantly regressed in recent years.

Conroy was apparently flying in training and Horan was dying to get him on from all accounts. It just didn't work.

This really should have been the platform for Freeman after that but it went the other way for him which is a pity.

Conroy had been brilliant against Dublin in the 2012 Semi Final and I think management were eager to get him on and weren't going to drop Andy Moran or Cillian O Connor but didn't want to drop Freeman because he was MOM against Tyrone.

Was probably our most disappointing AI final performance of the four this decade considering the performances that year in the championship up to that point.

Agreed. I was sitting right of our full-forward line that day and he was doing fine. Conroy was doing alright that season but hooking Freeman early doors was a big mistake. It's a pity it hasn't worked out for him, thought he could have given us something different this year and it's not like he had many chances in the league.

Gibbons is another guy who could have done us a turn from the bench but he has regressed since 2014.

Very true, at times we really do seem to underestimate the commitment these lads make. Shame it didn't work out, but nothing ventured and all that..

If I do recall, we barely scored after he went off (last 10 minutes aside when Dublin played the percentages and were happy to concede frees), which is a mad scenario considering I don't think he even saw the half hour mark

Thats funny that he is gone(freeman) as I hear he is paying really well with the club. I think he had loads of opportunities to nail the FF position over the years but he never could get to grips with it. I was always disappointed with him for some reason as I felt he had great potential but never delivered to the degree where he was core to the forwards.

Yeah 2013 final, he was having a fine game then taken off abruptly and Mayo barely won a ball in the full forward line afterwards.

It was a large discussion point in the aftermath at the time - he was MOTM in the semi and was getting the better of O'Carroll that day until that point.

Was never really able to hold down his place since. I always felt he had a bit more to offer
