This is one of the most active forums on Boards.ie. As a result, discussion can get quite heated. But there are certain things posters must realise are simply not OK to post:

- Personal abuse

- Rumours about players'/managers'/anyone's personal lives.

I think he took it bad from what I heard but he used it in the right way and you can only admire him for that. I would love if he was FF for us. He really is an all round special player and has got a lot smarter in drawing fouls

Ah he is a very special player and he appears to have reined in any issues with his temperament.

I love his directness,he heads straight for the posts.I really enjoy watching him.

Yeah, you are right. I thought it was the day Sice scored the goal. Just looking at the teams from that 2014 match - that was a very very weak Galway side. Some amount of changes since then. Compared to Mayo where you potentially see 12 of the starting team from that day start this year (if everybody was fit). The 3 I am leaving out are Hennelly, B. Moran & Dillion.

Crowe on McBreaty was a signal of intent for me. I think he has him lined up for Comer.

Immovable force meets unstoppable object ðŸ˜‚ so looking forward to this game, win or lose. Everything on the line, I think if Mayo win, they should ratchet up performance levels each game til September. I think that will win ye an all Ireland.

Yeah, there's big hype behind this game now and it's still over five weeks away. I think it's nearly a must win game for us. Don't really want to take the chance of the back door again, there's just too many banana skins and not to mention the strain it puts onto the team.

Massive hype, but considering ye took the league off, ye have a chance to build. Might be an unpopular opinion but I think this is your last big shot with this team. If that’s the case, going balls out from May to September could be the way to go,

Comer is virtually unmarkable at the moment but the key to beating Galway won't be in just stopping him.

As a Galwayman I'm a bit worried about this one, it's set up for Mayo. Poor form, written off, Galway being talked up, not to mention that Mayo are due a win against us.

You have a clash of the experienced campaigners against the young pretenders, and experience usually prevails. I do think it's a more crucial game for Mayo than for Galway though. Galway could probably handle a trip through the qualifiers but I think Mayo would find it hard to do that again.

But of the early round fixtures it's by far and away the stand-out game, and one that I think the neutrals will be looking forward to.

I was amazed how under utilized he was on Sunday. He caused complete chaos anytime he got the ball

My real worry in May is that he could get fast ball and he could quite easily nab 2 or 3 goals at the drop of a hat, and basically win the game on his own.

It's a potential threat on the Donaghy scale of last year, and we really need a proper plan in place

Harrison would be a good choice if fit.

Sticking with him and blocking shots out in front of him etc. Not a job for Keegan imo, his style wouldn't be as effective on him he'd be missed elsewhere too, stopping the ball going into him maybe

We'll beat Galway, beat Sligo/London BUT then we'll lose to Leitrim/New York in the final.

Kevin McStay showed exactly that last year when he moved Smith into Full Forward.

Bit of a non story. Masterplan for Galway was available a long time a go and championship was never on before Mayo. This idea it's been "postponed" till after the Mayo game is stretching the truth.

It was never gonna work. Look at the Galway situation this year, Corofin make to match 17th so it's hard to ask them to start a new campaign in early April. Also, Galway made it to league final. Should those county players be asked to play club championship a week later in what is pribably their only free week between January and April? It's the wrong month to free up as it just doesn't help.

This whole 'April for the clubs' thing was a completely stupid idea to begin with. I mean April for the clubs to do what exactly? Play a couple of league games? Where the county players almost certainly wouldn't be available anyway.

Or play a premature round of the championship with no clear idea of when the next round might be?

It's clear that the clubs need to be treated better in terms of how fixtures are laid out and maybe the earlier finish in August might help that, but this April thing has been no more than a ham-fisted attempt at improving the life of the club player, and is currently serving no purpose that I can see.

There's club hurling on this weekend and in a fortnight which ties up the likes of Comer, brannigan and Tom Flynn too.

That's the drawback of being a dual county

Kerry club championships are being played and will be completed by May 6th.

All fit Intercounty players are playing with their clubs.

Its a great idea, if your county board bothers to plan effectively.

Kerry and Dublin are in very different situations though to the teams in Connaught and Ulster. Based on the last few years they will not have another competitive game until after their provincial finals so they can afford to release the players back to the clubs.

Agree that it's a mess but it is important to get a round of Senior Championship in early in the year. Stops any messing with Clubs who have intermediate teams etc.
