Sold this lad as a weanling, got kill out info through ICBF, herd plus , killed 490kg DW U+ 3, 23 months , ADX limo out of a good little cow, was great calf , went off a bit and was my plainest weanling think I got E880 or E890 .. Would he have come into 2k at that weight? 4.10 X 490 =E2009 or would he get the 12 cent bord Bia also or more than 4.10 if he a U+? Just curious as a suckler man that kills only the odd cull cow

What age was he when killed?
I see he was 23 months.

He turned a few pound on him in a year and 4 months, fair play to him

Ardlea Dan is a good terminal bull no doubt but not for milk

At that weight he would have been a bull slaughtered as a U he would have got 4 or 4.1/kg. No QA or extra grid prices on bulls so 1960-2010 euro. He would have been over 800kgs. He was sold as a weanling at 300ish kgs I expect so he put 500kgs onto him. After mart fees and transport he cost him 900 at least in the yard so 1050 to 1100 euro of a margin to take total costs out of. I expect that he was housed early in October. Over the winter he might have cost 500 alone in feed costs take the rest of the costs out of 550-600 euro and see what is left.

I'd agree . That was the day before I sold him and tbh I was disappointed in him, he was born a giant and super thick calf up to 5 months, he was going through an awkward growth stage and looking his worst when I sold him but wasn't holding onto one calf I let him rip , but he must have come good again.

Prob got €4 a kg for him so in Feb. Don't think there was much more to be got for bulls. It's fairly handy to get a continental bull into a u when they are fed well.he probably had a good shoulders and top on him.

Agriland talking about €3.90 - €3-95base for steers, the journal is giving €3.95-€4 so it looks good enough. Have a few to go here, was going to hold tight till the end of the month to see would they rise but as we know it could go the other way.

Same today. For a single load 4.05 base.

Any updates for next week? 4.05 best I've heard for bullocks. 4.15 for u grade bulls

have a few to go, I rang on tuesday to get them in by the end of the week and was told that they are fully booked up and cant kill till next week.

Agent was telling me allot of cows and cattle that are not fully fit getting killed at the moment, presumably due to fodder shortage.

My cows were to go yesterday but are put off until tomorrow
