This is one of my cars,. I post it about once a month for the members to see it who miss the opportunity to view it. As im sure there is 100's of people that dont sign in to board's 2/3 times daily. It may be annoying to some regulars to view it once or so a month but im simply posting in the many differently labeled threads . I'm looking to pick up another bangernomics car next week & I'm hoping you guys can help me out.
The €500 Alfa I picked up from this thread is still going strong 9 months later, the only problem being a airbag light. A bit of soldering and €30 to reset it and it hasn't come back since. NCT on Friday though

I have a feeling it will fail on bushings but I don't mind putting a bit of work into it as it's serving us well. I will also pick up an oil & air service kit when the NCT bits. That will hopefully keep it in good shape until next year.

Criteria for the new car :

Close to Galway
Petrol
1.0 to 2.0
Cheap < €1000
say no older that 2004

Nice to haves:
Recent NCT & low owners
I prefer cars that are slightly over engined & high spec ( think 1.8 corolla)
Cruise control

If anyone spots anything I'd be grateful if they posted a link, I'm not back home until this weekend & will be actively looking from next week .

If the arms were "recent" like the ad suggested, then they are unlikely to be gone that quick - it could just be the drop links. They go fairly quick, rattle like hell but are simple to fit and about 14 euro each.

Thanks and yes I do. I have another classic with them and they added it to the policy no questions. I'd really love to hold onto it but can't justify taxing it and my other daily as my wife will be walking to work from April.

Used to be tippex with a brush, now a number of places have the tippex pen that's very useful for putting mileage on when changing a belt, or marking the pulleys to make sure they're all still aligned after fitting the new belt, among other things. Yes, a receipt helps but it does at least mean that someone else working on the vehicle at some stage in the future has an idea what's been done, and when it was done, and it lasts a lot longer than the paper stickers that used to be the norm when changing a belt.

Sadly, just when I was contacting the seller, he has sold the Seat Toledo that you guys have suggested. So, once again, I need your help. I didn't want to spam my query again by quoting it, so please check post #4285 if you're unfamiliar. Thank you very much guys.

EDIT: Asked for insurance for a few cars and it seemed like my only option is the Seats or maybe VW as well. Couldn't get a quote at all for Toyotas so I guess they're not an option.

Only tested till June though. No recent owner change and it's not an import either.

No mention of a service history or receipts though which would be a help in figuring out if it has had a recent timing belt or clutch change.

100bhp and 105bhp tdi Octavia's are probably one of the cheapest turbo diesel cars to insure as long as they're around about the 04 mark or above.
