Surprised to see so many aircraft circling above the Wicklow mountains I have to say. Thought that would have been a no-no given the terrain.

Most aircraft are well above the mountains, for example 8000ft is nearly 2500m, the Wicklow mountains highest point is 925m, which they're not actually near anyway.

A pan pan is but this wasn’t a pan pan, this was the pilot advising in 7 mins he would be declaring a pan pan.

Sounds like he trying to force Dublin to allow him in by threatening a “pan pan”.
This weather was forecast well in advance and flight crew should have taken extra fuel to deal.

How long was he holding for? The cockpit brief a couple of hours earlier should have arrived at a decision of “how long will we hold for?”

BA57 (Airbus A380 Reg G-XLEC) London Heathrow to Johannesburg after u turning over France and heading back to London Heathrow, circling at 13,000ft over the English channel must be dumping fuel, cause unknown.

Update: Returning due to a technical issue.

Update 2: Now circling over OCKHAM (OCK) at 8,000ft to increase fuel burn with gear down, ETA for fuel burn is 1 - 2hrs.

It was no Antonov but it was loud for that time of the night, it was quite cold so that made it louder.
