Wonder why was he questioned in the airport in the first place and how did he come to be in this country. There arefar too many of these non nationals appearing before our courts on unsavoury sex charges. I hope someone is keeping a track of each one convicted and their nationality.( before they came to be New Irish)

Nothing illegal I might add. Then they're on Google Photo's, then they're on my PC, then they're on my dad's tablet I once logged in on and never logged out of. You get the idea. He should have done something after receiving it, deleting at the minimum, but his story absolutely is not beyond reasonable doubt.

Over the last few years a number of people have been caught with child porn in my region and they all just happen to be Irish and the kinda people you'd least expect. Nationality has **** all to do with it.

I'd say 99.9% of people know that that kind of stuff is highly illegal and even if their motives were genuine would be extremely hesitant to be seen as circulating that kind of stuff. Also, about the same percentage of people would know the probable reaction of the recipient is to at the very least block them and with an extreme probability that they would report it in some way. Certainly, if you came across stuff like that a lot of people would tell family and friends but the key word is tell with tell including how physically and mentally repulsed and scarred by seeing it they were. The fact she received it in the first place, then thought it was a good idea to send it to him with him then choosing neither to report it nor to delete it nor to block her makes it seem like these are at the lower edge of a ring in my opinion.

No one should be allowed into this country unless they have documentation to prove who they are and they can shown they have no history of sexual deviancy. There is a non stop procession of non nationals in our Courts on serious sexual assault charges and their defence is funded by the free legal aid service. I am sick reading about them and their depraved attitudes to women and children. As I said the ethnic origins of those convicted should be noted as it definitely appears that the numbers of immigrants appearing in Court are too high in relation to their numbers in the country.

Bull****.

I work in law enforcement in a missing children capacity and this world often surfaces. I've come across this excuse lots of times. "Oh I never searched for it", "It was sent to me by mistake", "I forgot to delete it after a friend used my phone" etc. In the US we'll get a warrant to search other personal devices. And more often than not. We'll find lots of similar material or a disturbing search history. Decent people do the right thing. You don't forget to delete something like that or ignore reporting it. You keep it for a reason. Should be able to tell how many times it was viewed on the device. I know our tech guys can do stuff like that.
Cutie 3.14 wrote: » +1 on this. Bullsh!te. Hes a lying scumbag. I remember back in the day when Chatroulette and Omegle were new enough on the scene and a bit of a novelty, I was having a gander when up popped my next video chatter. But it wasn't a person* , it was a grainy low resolution video on the screen that I couldn't quite make out. So I was squinting and moving my head closer to my screen when after about 10 seconds I realised what I was looking at. The sick bastard was showing a video of a child getting abused. The second I realised I got such a fright it felt like my heart was jumping out of my chest and I was shouting all sorts of incoherent sh!t in horror and disgust and shut the laptop down and didn't go on the internet for the rest of the evening.....or sleep properly that night. Roughly 10 seconds is all I saw and I'll never ever forget it. So yeah, hes lying. Although could different cultures and attitudes be argued here? Not that im excusing his behaviour for even a second. * I know, mickeys galore on that thing

I'm very interested in the Middle East and conflict in general and think to gain a better understanding of anything you need to view both sides of the story (for example, I'm strongly Republican but have read loads of Loyalist and Unionist material). On one of the first pages there was a glossy two page photograph of a beheading and it was beyond gory. I got rid of the copy immediately knowing, that whilst I am interested to know more about the thinking behind Daesh, seeing stuff like that goes beyond the capabilities of my stomach. If I close my eyes, I can still see that picture now as if it was in front of me. Different type of shocking yes, but I think both that and a video of a child being raped are equally as shocking. That's why I believe it is utter horsesh1t that he forgot it was on his phone.
neonsofa wrote: » But I don't think he's saying he just forgot he was ever sent it. He is saying he forgot it was on his phone, which as another poster explained earlier can easily happen. You can delete it from the WhatsApp conversation in horror and disgust, as you did with your copy of Dabiq, without remembering it's still in your WhatsApp videos album in your "my files" folder or whatever. A location where you never look. Not that I believe his story, but I don't think he's trying to claim he doesn't remember ever having the video, more so that once he deleted it from the WhatsApp conversation he forgot to delete it in folders elsewhere. The fact he never reported it or reported the person who sent it, proves his story is bull****.
FCIM wrote: » I understand that though I regularly delete the Whatsapp folder which is stored locally on my phone as well as deleting all messages from within Whatsapp (just to clear space). I have seen people with near full capacity phones though and the bulk of it is things like Whatsapp. Maybe I'm just overassuming the tech savviness of people (though I wouldn't think what I do is particularly technical). The fact he didn't block her, ask her not to send stuff like that again nor report it (even if he had done one of the three it would have pointed towards a level of innocence) stinks though.

First of, the tech aspect - not everyone is tech savvy and know how to delete media from their phone, you shut down the conversation a lot of people think all associated media is gone. Second of the lack of reporting, yes this is strange, but again - maybe he thought as it came from a user in the United States there would be no point going to the police - very naive I know, but people have different views of the world. How many people here have received beheading videos or other horrible ISIS style **** on their phones ? via facebook or twitter etc ? My guess is quite a few - do you report them ? probably not, what I do is block or mute the user and delete any media that is on the phone. We don't report these things tho (maybe to twitter/facebook but not to local authorities), apparently sick **** is ok when it happens to adults. Remember he didn't seek it out, he didn't distribute it .. he has no taste for this !!HE IS NOT A THREAT !!! Even if I can be convinced that it was so negligent NOT to report it, he still isn't a threat to be on the ****ing sex offenders list !! - that list is for people that pose a genuine threat to society as they may re offend. Sure charge him with withholding evidence ... even if it could be a serious sentence, but not that bloody list thats a life sentence for him - that he doesn't deserve.

But then again, I like to think of myself as tech savvy - and not so naive in legal issues.
