I'm in the same workplace I went into since I left college, the first day I wore a shirt since then I'd say I've only worn a shirt a handful of times.

Sometimes during the summer if we get good weather I'd wear shorts and flip flops. Definitely wouldn't like to work anywhere with a dress code

How does American employment law work?

In civilised countries, you simply can't fire someone on a whim. There are usually a few no-go area that lead to instant dismissal (theft etc), but otherwise you have to go through a meeting with HR, give out a series of warnings etc.

Could Tillerson take Trump to an employment court...?

Think Trump was more concerned about deflecting media attention away from a certain porn star. Than deflecting away from Russia or Putin. Firing Tillerson certainly drew attention.

We've all become immune to the shock value of his presidency at this point. Secretary of State is the highest ranking official behind the POTUS and VP yet I don't think there's much consternation at this development.

Trump could comfortably be outed as having had an affair with the Stormy Daniels at this point and come out the other side unscathed.

A further threat from Russia about engaging US forces in Syria over the last 24 hours and now you've got numerous senior departures in the US Government and a blanket refusal to align with key allies in condemning Russia.

All of this completely undermines NATO but also concerning is the fact that there are consequences to all of these things that have yet to play out.
