Looting in Lidl?(mod warning in op-read it)

Seems to be a few videos doing the rounds firstly of people(including those with children) grabbing whatever they can from Lidl and it's like a family day out, what chance do these kids stand :mad:

Now it appears someone has got hold of a JCB and is just destroying Lidl quite simply because they can. If the Americans did it we'd comment on how they're such a pack of idiots yet we're clearly a nation with a lot of gob****es too.

I know they're a multi million pound company but it's no excuse and i hope every single one of the people involved are caught and charged :mad:

Mod- All this racist crap stops here. We have been pretty damn lenient so far but the gloves are off now. Any more reference to the race of the people involved or general racist sh!te will be crushed and bans will be handed out.

Yeah I won’t hold my breath. People are frustrated with the state’s actions, or non actions in some cases, so their blood understandably boils over. In this thread it’s just words. I live near Pearse St in town. For years I had encountered minor crime and antisocial behaviour from the local youths living in the social housing here. Naively, I had largely precieved the social group living in that accommodation as homogeneous. More recently I became much more aware that the trouble makers are a minority within the community, and those negative attitudes and behaviours are not shared by all. Moreover, I realised that the greatest damage that minority does is not to middle class people in neighbouring areas, but to the working class people around them.

The bizarre thing is the scrotes clothing is suitable to this weather - wind breaker hood up.
They go around like this all year round to hide their identity - it creates a sense of intimidation too when they walk around.

There are deep rooted and complex social issues that people (myself included) can't ignore and just say “scumbags” - you see how kids genuinely have little or no hope - seen one of them in the local Lidl (ironically) recently having to buy food at around 6 pm. A time a kid his age (13 or so) should be at home eating a cooked meal - but his mother is an alcoholic and brother is a drug dealer who has caused mayhem in the area for a good 6 years. He is at that stage of too young to lock up.

I have respect for the Garda and know their hands are tied. But - I know a but, they are only in the area to go to the local Chinese - there is little or no feet on the street - no community police. There is something wrong in the police here - moral is still low , but it has been shown the culture in the Garda is wrong and reform is needed.

The media and government are very removed from real life – and the clapping on the back of how well the economy is doing is so removed from real life in parts of Dublin. Leo and his tweets and Rte and media in D4 is all a bit removed. Leo is well meaning and a good guy – but his background , life and education is so removed from life for the majority of Irish – I’d say he has hardly been exposed to some of the issues we are dealing with here – I hear one day he couldn’t get his Frappuccino and it was a hard day. The "6am" - sums up Leo's social policy - it is for guys like him and his friends.

The economy has picked up – but the social services that make changes in these areas were totally decimated from 2007 on. Early intervention and support services make a real difference – but the results are slow and often lost in the numerous structural and governmental changes that happen over the likes of a Garda station opening in Stepaside or a farm payment in Kerry or a traffic light in Clontarf.

Anyway – a sad day to see real looting in Dublin. There is personal responsibility first – but you also have to consider the society that created that situation.

A few years ago somewhere close to my house got robbed. It was in a rural area and it was witnessed by somebody. Two guys aged around twelve - thirteen broke in through a window and smashed doors/etc inside. This all happened whilst an older man waited in the car. Same goes with other rural crimes I've heard about on farmers. Sometimes they find children foot prints in the ground.

If there is anyone from the first category, and they are in act decent, the Garda station would have a queue of people coming to return the property they took. They were looters, plain and simple, and they should be held accountable just like the people who did the damage after them.

Definitely agree with this, there are the empty vessels and the real criminal element which the empty vessels help too. Then there is the third element there of the new Irish.

Someone asked why would ordinary ppl allow this happen in their Community and the reality is in certain areas they are outnumbered by this lot.

I am a Joe soap worker getting fed up with these scumbags robbing ppl s houses etc and getting away with it, there's a huge contingent of these ppl as well getting fed up to the gills with the way they are untouchable.

I'd have had absolute zero sympathy if the digger lost control and killed a load of them. Zero. A lot of people would be the same.

The “fcuking eejits” are still looters. For me they are the bottom feeders of society, trying their best to bring society to the brink. If they do not understand the nuance between looting and stealing a prison sentence should help. Follow the example of the English justice system after the London riots.

The scumbags with the jcb are worse, don’t get me wrong but people are trying to normalise the others who “just” took advantage of an open door in a shop and took what they wanted. This is not normal behaviour. It is looting in a time of a semi crisis and weather event in the country. It makes me realise how fragile our society is if there was a real crisis.

Please do not normalise this as if it were “just” stealing a few groceries. It is not the act. It is the opportunistic mentality behind the act

I was horrified and saddened to see the footage of the looting of Lidle, knowing what backlash would ensue from mainly people who have not a clue about the area.
Hopefully justice will be served on these thugs with a deserved heavy hand, a despicable crime.

Sorry I’ve skipped loads of pages on this thread since last night.

I grew up in Peckham in the 80s and have seen first hand many, many riots and looting. The kids back then had the same opportunities as me, we went to the same schools, we all could use the free activities (open air swimming, adventure Centre, youth clubs, sports clubs).

The difference between us was my parents wouldn’t even let me look out the front window when this was going on whereas the kids that were outside, their parents didn’t give a **** and let them mix with the older scumbags who were rioting. Then a viscous circle begins.
