Looking very windy going into Thurs night and look at those windchill readings!

Yeah the snow is so high it drifted at a ditch, flowed onto the road, continued drifting and then went over the ditch into the field across the road to continue, a large stretch of road fully blocked with snow. I don't know when I will be able to drive anywhere.

Getting heavy snow in Ballybrack again...compass may be swinging back to accumulation. Hoping that at some point tomorrow/Sunday it lets up enough to get to the shops; teenagers slurping their way through the 8L of milk I had in the fridge (now down to 3). Ah sure!

I don't understand why the radar is showing nothing for North Kildare all day and it has NEVER stopped snowing. I'm actually getting a little cabin fever. At least if it would stop we could enjoy what we have but its pretty damn miserable and cold out there!

Is the snow not thawing with you KM79?
Im near Athenry and im getting lots of wet snow now. Its melting away on the roads, but roads still have plenty of drifts blocking them.

Been a lot of snow in North Africa this year. There's plenty of shots on the web of Saharan sand dunes covered in snow from a few weeks back.

As soon as the snow got heavy the temperature dropped quickly from 1.5c to 1.0c. Theres hope but only if it continues for hours and not minutes!

Fairly persistent snow in D7, starting to stick on the less well used roads.

Was out again there and it's definitely thawed a bit since earlier despite snowing all day (D12). Hopefully it doesn't thaw too much before dark and a (presumed) drop in temps again.

I know people are like "Yay, this is proper snow, not the pellets" but this stuff is much wetter and is probably contributing to the thaw. The pellets are nice and dry.

I asked the neighbour how it compares and he reckons this is worse.
Back then, while bad, the roads were worse and we didn't have the modern infrastructure. Of course no way of saying for sure, but all I can say that at least in Naas it is incredible scenes.
The most dramatic part which is impossible to get across in this forum is the howling wind and side ways snow and ice forced into the side of your face.

seeing video of coastal floods in Dublin, hope people ok.. how grim to be flooded in this cold. I remember the misery of lsush every year as a child in scotland. The grimmnes hasnt really arrived yet

still snowed in but made some snowomen with my snowgirls
