Official Conor McGregor thread (part 5)

The last thread was nearing the 10k post limit where boards explodes so here's part 5.

Translation: I tried to hold onto the belt for even longer without defending, this would have been my excuse for taking another few months off. Unfortunately the UFC saw through this.

I reckon McGregor stepping in as a late replacement would be do huge ppv numbers. Nobody would expect it, you wouldn't have the slow 2+ month long build up. The excitement would have been rammed into 3 or 4 short weeks. Plus it was against Frankie. Although I'd say it would have maybe changed to a 150lb catchweight fight.

Dave Meltzer has said negotiations are going well with Conor and that they include 2 fights in 2018. He usually has a fairly quick turnaround, so either he doesn’t fight at all or he’ll fight again fairly nifty after the comeback fight imo

There is some curious choice of words there, very cagey in what he is saying.
He initially answers the question by saying Khabib/Ferguson is for the title.
Then when pressed, he rephrases the question to 'is Conor going to be upset?' from what was asked, and answers that.

There is something up his sleeve I reckon.

Conor is now 1st & 6th on the list of fighters who won UFC belts and never attempted to defend them. This list was published on Sunday so he's on 466 days now as Lightweight Champion. I think it's very impressive myself
