Playing games would be grand on a 720P screen. Most games don't run at 1080p anyway. Now, it depends on the screen - you might have a significantly worse gaming experience due to other factors with such an old TV (response time, etc), but the resolution isn't that big a deal at all.

Especially considering a HD ready screen from 2006 is probably just 32", there's nothing to be worried about. Compared to, say, a PS4 Pro at 1080p, the regular PS4 would be a big step down on either 1080 or 720p, but just comparing a base PS4 at 1080 and 720, it's pretty minimal - again, notwithstanding that other features of the TV might be poor.

The small Seagate ones in Argos do the job, no external power source needed. Been using them on my Xbox One and TV box for the last 3 years.

Worth shopping around for best price on those though.

Have you a computer? Could always plug the PS4 into the monitor might be less offensive on the eyes but perhaps smaller screen. I do all my gaming on a 27'' monitor.

AC: Freedom Cry is basically an expansion of Black Flag. Should be fine on 720p. Even Watch Dogs 2 would be fine.

Lots of PS4 games run at 900p so it’s not the end of the world. HZD, AC: Origins etc make great use of HDR so that’s more important than resolution.

So, I have a base PS4. I used to have a 49” 1080P LG LED TV. However, at the moment I’m using a friends old HD Ready (2006) tv - which is an absolute balls.

I plan on getting a new 4K TV in the next 2 months along with a Pro but in the meantime, I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for games that are grand on a HD Ready tv? Basically, am I right to assume that I’d be better off leaving Horizon ZD, Uncharted Lost Legacy etc until I get a 4K and a Pro?

A 720 tv would not do those games any justice.

Any games that would? I haven’t played in over a year so there’s quite a bit I’ve missed. Looking for a singe player game ala AC Origins style etc.

Again, would Origins be **** on a 720 32”?

Sony have announced that it will be re-structuring this year to focus more on 1st party titles.
Not sure what this will mean exactly as I think they are great at releasing decent quality games that are not like the norm.
I just hope they invest in new 1st party IP rather than just pumping out sequels (don't think I wanna see another Uncharted for a good few years).

The way I work it with all games is to start Spotify first, then start your game and turn down the music in game, leaving the sound effects up. You can't enter the Spotify app again without suspending the game, so holding down the PS button to change volume and skip tracks etc without causing a suspension / online boot.

You also might be able to control what's playing on PS4 via your phone.

Well that’s a pain in the hole. I like listening to the in game music in some games like Doom for example but seriously some others are just beyond ****.

Listening to Rage Against the Machine whilst playing whatever would be nice.

Ps... I had the game volume down on Destiny 2. Is working with it now. Will try Gran Turismo in a while. It’s one I’m dying to play my own music on.

Sounds like it has to be programmed into the game to be honest. Some games are smart and do as you described, the last couple of Pro Evo games are an example of that.

However, I can't see how it's possible outside of a developer update.

I'm not sure I'm going to be able to ignore MW2 remastered. Did anyone play COD4 remastered online on the PS4? Just wondering was there much of a community - easy to get games etc.

So the missus saw me eyeing this the other night and decided to buy it for me,god dammit does she not know how scummy activision are?!?:P

Anyway,played a few levels last night of the SP. Just as good as i remember.

So the COD4 remaster is €3 more expensive in this sale than the game it was supposed to be a bonus for. Id love to buy it but the fact there gouging and double dipping selling the map packs again i wont be getting it. Activision really are a scummy bunch

There was a lot of Black Friday deals on consoles last year but I don't know if there were a huge amount of deals outside of that really.

I got mine on Warehouse Deals for about €185 for a 1tb iirc - the only issue with being a missing outer cardboard sleeve, the rest of the packaging was intact and everything inside was untouched. It's about keeping a close eye on the deals as they get snapped up pretty quickly.

Argos used to have great bundles at good prices as well, as did Game (and not just around Christmas) but everywhere seems to be expensive....the Xbox by comparison still have great value bundles being offered everywhere.

It won't get used a whole lot so I'm slow to shell out €300 for one.

Iiirc a lot of those deals were amazon wearhouse deals,keep an eye on there for one with damaged packaging.

Prices on PS4's have been terrible lately. I want to pick up a PS4 or PS4 Pro but everywhere now seems to be around €300 for the basic console alone! What happened to all those amazing €250 deals with a few games that always seemed to be around last year....
