Right....disengage your brain, throw out all logic...because trumps lawyer Michael Cohen now is saying that he paid Stormy Daniels €130,000 out of "HIS OWN POCKET" to keep this porn star quiet!!! just because he his a good old chap and a friend of Donald. Now I know Cohen has money but I dont know any lawyer would ever pay someone for a client out of the goodness of their own heart.

If you read the text of his statement though he says that neither the Trump Organization or the Trump Election campaign never paid for it...he never said that Trump personally though Mmmmmmmm

This is the key question.. Why go public with this now?

The Porter story was dominating the news , everyone had kinda forgotten about Stormy.

What does anyone on the Trump side of this gain from this disclosure?

What bigger story is Cohen trying to protect himself from?

You just answered it. They couldn't control the porter story so get media to switch to this.

Most people simply accept this is something Trump would do (affair) and who does it hurt.

The Porter story is getting very close to Kelly, KAC and SHS never mind Trump himself

He had to. Someone had filed complaints with the FEC about the payment to her, which was a direct violation of campaign finance laws. So he tried to jump ahead of that by saying the payment was entirely him and not affiliated with Trump, but I wish him the best of luck with that narrative. Especially now that it may have breached her NDA. If it does I don't see him not being so fired.

This is basically an admission that the story is correct, or was that already established?

This isn't strictly an admission that the story is correct, since you could argue that, true or false, the story is damaging to Trump and you pay the money to limit the damage.

It's just that not many people are going to believe you when you say that. In the public mind, this payment confirms that Trump did sleep with the porn star.

The incident and the payment were both way before the Trump election campaign itself started so it shouldn't give any legal disclaimer, election or Presidential immunity to give DT any wriggle-room. It probably proves the point that the last person you shoild stiff is your legal protector.

Yes, and Edwards was indicted and tried for campaign finance violations. He was acquitted, but it's clear that payments of this kind can amount to criminal violations of campaign finance laws.

But the Edwards payments were made right in the middle of his 2008 election campaign. Indeed, they were made by his campaign finance manager. In this case, if the payments were made before Trump's election campaign had ever started, as aloysius says, then it's going to be much harder to frame them as a violation of campaign finance laws.

Deflect deflect deflect. That is and always has been the strategy so as to avoid the serious problem that America has guns. The usual line is

"let's not politicise the shooting of these poor people. Now is not the time to talk about gun control. Thoughts and prayers etc"

Disgusting response absolutely disgusting. One part authoritarianism in that everyone should be reporting people to the authorities. Shades of the drift towards authoritarianism and a police state there. Then another part even more horrible arguably in that by implication he is blaming the classmates and neighbours for this murder spree. Nothing short of disgusting.

The reality is that the blood of those kids and I emphasize the word kids is on every member of congress, every member of the senate and every member of the current US government who has done nothing to stop the mass killings which just go on and on. Listening to officials and politicians trot our the usual thoughts and prayers rubbish is frankly sickening.
