Anyway, I feel we're straying from the point here. If you can't eat meat today but can eat the flesh of Christ and drink his blood, that would imply that He is a fish or a vegetable or something.

You appear frustrated because you are here determinedly chatting about something you don’t believe in, it’s as if it’s an irritant to you that others do believe.
I don’t believe in Astrology, to me it’s nonsense, and as a result I know nothing about it, I have no interest in it, I feel no need to get in any discussions about it, people are free to believe in Star signs and I could be an arsehole and jump in to any discussion to pick pointlessly at people who do , but, those people aren’t bothering me. They’re not bothering anyone.
It’s strikes me you’d only be repeatedly trying to be a smart arse if the fact that some people believe that the stars control our destiny seriously annoyed or frustrated you.

I heard of a transient family of O'Mackerals back in the day. They used to travel in and out the bay between Ros a Bhíl and An Cheathrú Rua. Heard they ran a school or something.

Lazy bugger! I know a widower living with his batchelor son. They eat “the dinner” at lunchtime and make a big pile of home cooked chips around 8 nearly every night!

Didn't even know it was ash Wednesday until I saw this thread and googled when it was. Easter is early this year, I see it falls on April 1st, very fitting!

I live in Australia. I honestly had no idea it was Ash Wednesday. I had bacon for breakfast, a ham sandwich for lunch and chicken wings with roast lamb for dinner. Might need to go to confessionsðŸ˜€

Small world! Have never eaten iguana. They always terrified me when I was a child and would see them for sale with their legs tied together in the markets in Guyana.

I once was in a taxi coming from the airport in Trinidad and the driver stopped the car to chase after a manicou that had run across the highway. He caught it and stuffed it into a burlap sack in the boot and for the rest of the journey we had to listen to him raving about how tasty manicou meat was.

Not sure if they'd get thick about it but if my Dad buying me a one and one in Burdocks twice a year saves me from eternal damnation then I'm in!
FWIW when i was still in primary/secondary school we went to mass before school everyday during Lent
