What is the equivalent fare for a taxi/cab for this journey? Looks like the industry needs a bit of regulation instead of shutting down. Wonder what a similar raid on taxi's would show up.

I guess it would nearly be a fiver to begin with just sitting in the taxi so probably between 8-10 euro I'd say.

You're buying the 'experience' of being whizzed around, coolie-fashion, to your destination. Think it's demeaning for those who have to rent them off the rickshaw owners and cycle them around.

Theyre even worse in Dublin.

Theyve been plenty of issues with people coming out of the 3 arena and getting charged or quoted insane amounts for a spin closer to town, granted its a bit of trek from there to O'Connell Street but I'm no fan of them.

I've not got up on one because I dont want to support them and I'd encourage others to do like wise.

If you're not happy with the quote or charge dont pay it. A guy tried charging me 20 euro from the top of grafton street to westmoreland street. He was handed a tenner and he was lucky to get that.

Quoted for 4 people, as you'd hardly be going on your own. Deduct €1 per person otherwise.

Fare would be just short of a fiver during the standard rate band according to this. The driving distance from The Old oak to Reardens is 1.5km according to Google maps. Taxi driver rep talking BS.

Horse**** yeah. People who think it would be less than a fiver are clearly too mean to ever get taxis.

I wouldn't blame them as taxis are insanely overpriced in this country.

If you're with a few mates the taxi driver would definitely squeeze a tener out of you for this trip.

+1 - that's a terrible route, far longer than it needs to be.

Totally agree, I lived in the Tower St/Barrack St area for a few months when I was younger and a taxi home at peak hours on a Saturday night was never more than €6.
The Oak to Reardons would definitely not be more than a fiver.

No you are! You can't say "you can't go right there" and also say "oh but cross both lanes and head down Tuckey St. is fine". You're not supposed to do that either.

I was collecting herself from town aorund Xmas time and a lot of the cars either turn right or continue on down Tuckey street.

Between the people stumbling in and around the fountain and cabs darting out of there, I'm surprised theres not more accidents on a Fri/Sat night.
