Reached Level 40 on Feb 2 , did most of my damage in the double xp event back in November when i did 6 million in 10/11 days and went from 9 to 15 million.
When i reached level 39 there was even a huge level of satisfaction then knowing you were on last level but had done 75% already and the big goal was in sight.
I was doing an hour at lunch and an hour in the evenings nearly every day but have largely cut out that evening walk/grind now , im definitely enjoying the game a bit more now too that the drive for XP is gone , although im still catching nearly everthing and doing evolves.

I'm still 650k off level 39, though I'm making good time on it, having only hit 38 just before the new year.

Well just hit 28 with 280 caught / 295 seen but I have some big breaks in there as my excuse for the delay... No gold badges yet but a few silver but travelling a whole lot has not helped with building up them. Will see how it goes; getting a new phone specifically to be able to Pokemon for more than an hour straight which will hopefully help but still no idea how I'll get beyond 30 at this rate :P

Save up your pidgeys for the double XP events; it looks like there's one every 2 months now.
If you evolve 75 pidgeys with a lucky egg over the next 10 days it will get you halfway to your next level.

I find having a power bank or two in my bag helps. I never travel without them these days.

added 200k there at lunch running 2 lucky eggs, doing some evolutions and hit 3 level 5s.

just hit level 38, 40 mins of evolving last night and 18 more there, only to be hit by 3M Xp for next :P Still got plenty of lucky eggs and nice run of mon to evolve though so lets see how it goes

Hit 29 today with 284 / 300 with two or three one or two catches away from evolving. A new phone (One Plus 5T) is a bloody miracle for pokemon hunting, must have walked around for 3h straight without using more than 40% of the battery and overall went from 107k to 302k exp today (must have caught over 200 pokemons total and around 60 pokemon stops in multiple walks). Not a big deal in the scheme of things to come but makes me happy :P

Now up and onwards to 30 and beyond.

Not sure if anyone is a interested, but I watched the Trainertips video last night of him hitting Lvl 40. At the end he went thru his stats and I found it very intriguing. I’m playing since day of launch, am just shy of Lvl 38. I don’t grind and wasn’t a big gym player before the rework.
I was intrigued by how similar my stats are to Trainertips. But he has 2 levels on me.

His pokedex is 364/366, mine is 354/366. (Both of us have yet to see Wynaut and Tropius)

It really shows the XP advantage of using lucky eggs for more than just evolve runs and lots of raids. He has 230 more legendary raids than me, thats 2.3m base XP straight away.

I’m going to a new US city tomorrow for work,planning on walking around with lucky eggs on for 2-3 hours. Level 38 will be achieved and hopefully a chunk into it too. I used all my coins on 2 of those boxes with the 20 Premium passes, they came with a lot of lucky eggs so Im going to be using to be using them more often if playing in a city centre for an hour or so.

Yeah i'd like to see a stat on the number of lucky eggs used.

It's 40,000 xp per level 5 raid this week with an egg on. A guy i work with done 10 level 5s yesterday on top of all his other activities and reached level 40 last night. Isn't afraid to throw £50 into the game when those boxes are on sale which means he usually has plenty of passes, eggs and incubators.

You’ve certainly smashed the stats of a very popular YouTuber.
Cash wise I would guess approx €90-100 for me. Bought 2500 coins twice, (€44) and 1200 coins prob 4-5 times. (€44-55)
And a Go+, so add another €35!

Edit; just did a lucky egg evolve, only 3500 from lvl 38. Will get that today.

Just an update. I did about 4-5 hours grinding Thursday/Friday, new stops with lucky egg on. Just under 400 new stops visited, started at 7419xp into level 38.
Currently at 557934xp, also got candy for 2 new evolves (Milotic and Pelipper)

Hit 32 to my surprise as I had not realized it was double exp on all pokemons during the community day. Got another 67k in on 32 which is well ahead of schedule. Up to 317/337 on the codex but most evolves will now require hundreds of km as buddies to unlock enough candy or getting a lucky string of eggs for more unlocks. Hopefully raiding will help fill in some other gaps however.

Yup, those big names are bloody annoying. Dragonite was my last Gen 1 non-regional pokemon to get in the dex.
Start walking Beldum or Bagon (if you have them) quick smart.
My Larvitar got walked almost 250km before I got my first T-Tar, had only hatched 2 before I finally got it.
Am currently walking Bagon, hatched 2 I think, need 60 more candy.
Luckily got enough hatches and catches to get my Metagross 3 days ago.

Well I slacked off at around 650k due to business trips etc. but it's done; 33 hit, Mew captured and at 328/347 (which should be +1/+1 as I got an unevolved Slakoth only waiting for the final candy to push all the way through). Still have a few more mons to walk out with multiple with in 20 candy of evolving so a few more numbers to add to the book by 34 for sure.
