I checked out his latest podcast there. Wouldn't have bothered except the ranting on this thread made me curious. Quite enjoying it.

Still not getting the outrage. I'll try to join in to see if it gives me insight... I did not enjoy the oddball poetry! Orange is the standard colour for high vis camping gear, and pink would not be as effective! The word commit can be used in other ways than for sins! 'Commando dad' is a succinct and well structured book on parenting, and I prefer its approach other books I've looked at not focused on traditional male audiences!

From what I've heard he is at pains to point out he's not in any way a professional and his thoughts are merely his opinions on the matter and not to be taken as gospel.

I think his output is sensible, articulate and well thought out and his reasons for wanting to maintain his privacy is also very understandable and admirable imo.

Anyone deriving negativity from what he's doing is coming from a deeply flawed place. He's admitted some of his motivations are selfish in that positive feedback from people who were in dark places that he's helped does make him feel better about himself but it's the right type of selfishness and good to have the grounding and self awareness to realise it's both good for his own and other people's mental health.

Most importantly he's helping to normalize stigmas and reaching an audience who may be among the most vulnerable, his demographic of listeners would be among the highest suicide risks. If they find him relatable and engaging it can only be a positive.

People given platforms need to realize that what they say has an influence on people, and they should therefore be very careful when pontificating on subjects they know little about. Especially when their target audience is young people. WB Yeats wrote about this in his poem 'Man and the echo'.

No, I haven't. As RTE is completely committed to dumbing down national debate I have had the misfortune of seeing him on the late late a few times. I think he's basically a useful idiot, furthering the cause of the anti-man propaganda being pushed by politicians, media, dopes on social media etc. Hopping on the mental health bandwagon just gives him more exposure.

How is he hopping on the mental health bandwagon? He suffered depression & anxiety. Him and others talking publicly about it (regardless of if he's intelligent or not) might help people with depression to talk to others about it.

Masculinity and femininity isn't black and white. It's extremely broad, not a 10 point checklist.

Feminism isn't some blue haired fish mouth woman saying being a man is a crime. What he meant was men dont need to be worried about being a 'man' to a woman, that women are grand. They are like us and well able to take care of themselves.
You don't need to put stress on yourself thinking she might think you are less of a man if you can't hold her hand through life.

Set aside if its an industry and someone is making scratch off it. Its capitalism - everyone is trying to make money.
