What are your views on contraception?

I'm not looking for this to turn into any sort of abortion thread, I'm more curious about various christian groups and their views on contraception. This is related to the topic of the 8th but I don't want to see it derailed.

So, what christian religion are you and what are your views on contraception?
Do you believe the use of condoms, female condoms etc should be acceptable?, what are your views on the morning after pill?

If you are against contraception then what are your solutions to stop unplanned pregnancy's?
Also what are your views in relation to a married couple where one of the partners has aids, do you still think condom use in this situation is wrong?

Do you think that your religion (in cases of Catholics...the Vatican for example) should change with the needs and times and change its views on contraception?

Methodist here.
Contraception is a very sensible way to control the size of family, allowing each child to be provided for to the best of your ability and means.
Of course it's not always reliable, but sure that's a great example of the old Yiddish maxim "Man plans, and God laughts"!

Condoms female condoms, morning after pill, all great inventions.

Lots of posts here about literal application of old Jewish instructions ( many of which I fail to recognise as of any way applicable to Christians)
Maybe useful if you are a Jewish sheep herder trying to populate a large area of the middle East, and living in fear of a terrible and vengeful God who is liable to rain down fire and brimstone if displeased.
In fact, you can dispense with Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus and Numbers entirely, they have little use to modern Christians, save as curious historical texts.

For the acts you are objecting to, can you point me to scriptures that indicate they are wrong in the context of a husband and wife in loving relationship? In Acts 17 the Apostle Paul commended the Bereans because even with the very message of salvation, they went away and diligently studied the scriptures to see if what Paul said was true. As Christians we have a responsibility to back up our claims from the Bible so I'd like to understand the context for your objections.

Not to derail things but some issues people have with literal interpretations of passages may be to a lack of understanding of context. For example, an eye for an eye isn't about revenge. They can't go and demand a full here back

I would strongly disagree with you there. While there is no mention of the internet in the Bible we can pretty easily determine based on scriptures describing sex within marriage that downloading child porn is wrong.

God killed Onan because he spilled the seed. Of course sexual pleasure without the intention of creating a pregnancy isn't bad. The sin is in the spilling of the seed.

I am 100% against it for societal reasons, women are becoming too lazy and too selfish to have children and this will cause the indigenous Irish to die out in our own country when women are not having enough children.

The birth control pill and abortion should both be banned and a huge host of tax and welfare measures be introduced to promote more births including a tax on childless couples who choose not to have children outside of valid medical reasons. Controversial yes but it’s just common sense whatever the godless liberals and their disgusting dogma of political correctness might say.
