How much if you don't mind me asking. I have a 100l one here that I occasionally use to top up the hot water from the range but I was thinking of upgrading to a larger one.

Ive a 200l jfc mixer here. Takes slot of pushing to go from the dairy to calf shed when full.

Im after washing my milking parlour with the turbo nozzle on the powerwasher and it is after taking off alot of dirt but the stallwork still looks very old and dirty kind of ... is there any acid i could put on or i see on donedeal owaltrol paint has anyone used this thanks

I was referring to a fixed water heater.
What are you doing killing yourself pushing 200kgs+ around the yard.
I have a 110l cmr mixer here that is easily managed.

Not true at all, have used ai here as long as I can remember and never short of heifers the odd year you may have more or less but it's not far off 50/50 once all calvings are counted ai and bull every year

A very interesting piece of information however at the bottom of the new ICBF fertility reports. It has the usage of each of the AI bulls you used and how many held in calf. Some of the bulls we used were as high as 90%, and one as low as 29%....i have the actual AI sheets and on that we also enter a small bit if info re timing of insemination, certainty of heat and the sheet also has calving date on it, so gonna do a bit of homework on this...

Would be really, really interesting if ICBF also put up the national averages of those buls in a column beside our own results.

I was chatting to a fella about Almari dairy in Saudi. Sending Irish guys over. Sounds very like being in the mining game. Do your stint come home for few weeks. Full time in the compound. It would suit a single person in their 20s to gain experience and save money.

Interesting comments on the top bull fr 4021- arnold- at pg meeting the other night. Ebi of 324 made up of 237 for fertility / 35 for production, -168 for milk and solids not great. While fertility drives alot should his ebi not have some weighting on production also? Also lads would just jump in to use the top ebi bull woithout looking at production. Much better bull number 2 on the list fr2239 better all rounder

You are doing better than what the AI companies say then. Remember progressive genetics came out with sexed advantage semen. it was first time I ever saw in print that you get less than 50/50 heifers from AI. Now the advantage semen I believe was a disaster but the figures were interesting.

This lad is a better bull again haha Fr 4187, depends what your looking for I guess if you want a fertile 5000 litre cow the above lad is fine if your looking for 9000 litres you need the above lad

It should be possible for them to allow you change the weightings to suit yourself. Use a German system here (not cows) and it collects all the data in the same way as icbf but it allows you to change the standard weightings.

It easy to push through notions like this when milk price is high, imagen telling lads they need to be paying a premium of 60 plus odd euro for non-Gmo dairy nuts when/if milk price goes back to the low 20's
