Seems like a good deal on coal....

The following prices for coal have just been posted in my local 'Buy Sell Swop' Facebook page. The prices are based on purchasing a pallet of coal & they suggest that individuals can share a pallet if they want. The merchants are in the North of Ireland, so the delivery will cost you. I think it's about €40.00 to deliver to the Dublin area. It seems like really good value.

Slack 40kg for €6
Amber King 40kg for €7
Champion Premium Coal 40kg for €8
Black Diamond Blend 40kg for €10 (semi smokeless)
Smokeless Ovoids 40kg for €12

Don't get the Black Diamond or the polish coal, its bad, i got both.
Ask about the Columbian, I don't know i didn't try it from them.

Pat sent me 5 bags of some sort of doubles. He said use a shovel of them when lighting the fire as it gets it going quicker.
real gent to speak to on the phone.
Anyhow.
I got my last load in September, I still have a full bunker almost ( 10 x 20kg bags ) from that load.
Fantastic value.

I got both ovoids and black diamond last time from coalwarehouse, the black diamond is absolute muck, but the ovoids are very good, specially for a stove, will definitely get them again

Yeah they have a flame for about an hour and then they start to glow and radiate out the heat . If you want more flame you can bang on some wood after a while which i do myself, a great combo i have to say

Switching to Ovoids. What is the best way to adjust the air controlls for this fuel compared to BD ? Primary & secondary Air inlets. What's your experience for the best heat!

I’m using the large Ovoids from Easyglo. Have been using them since October and they are fantastic. Couldn’t recommend them enough. There is only ash left in the morning and they give out great heat. The process of ordering and delivery was very smooth and I will order another batch probably around March for this year .

For any of the Wexford folk (or folk passing through) I picked up two 40kg bags of Stafford ovoids for €27 in Freeman's shop in Oylegate, I think they are €14.35 a bag individually but they do bundle deals on coal.

EasyGlow Smokeless small ovoids €376 with free delivery
Coal Warehouse Smokeless large ovoids €280. Smokey Black Diamond (said they resolved the quality issue) €225. Delivery is around €68.
Around €28 euro cheaper going with Coal Warehouse for ovoids even though they are the larger ones which are recommended for open fires and large stove.

I’m using Easyglo large ovoids and I couldn’t recommend them enough. Every day there is only ash left and it’s so handy having the 20 kg bags .
