Pilot just said smoke was spotted by the tower at Dublin and engine fire indications were activated but then put out.

RTE just reported that fuel had to be dumped in to Shannon Estuary. Can any of the Aerlingus A330's dump fuel?

Most of the good folk here say that the EI 330's don't have the means of dumping fuel. That, plus the fact that dumping fuel needs to be done above the altitude that this 330 circled at before landing, would suggest that this particular fuel dump claim is in accurate.

By the way, were did you hear mention of this in RTE?

RTE 2fm news at 6. Nothing about the dump on their news website.
Update: 6:30 news also stated that the fuel had to be dumped.

That's what I thought initially but upon rereading it, it seems that Shannon twr contradicted Dublin tower's original observation of smoke, after which the crew restated they had a fire indication.

I was driving West on the M6 this afternoon and noticed a large passenger jet flying low in the direction of Shannon. I thought it might be some kind of training flight. But, it must have been the Aer Lingus plane mentioned above. There was no sign of smoke or anything at that point. So, they must have shut down the engine already.

The segment between 07:00 and 09:00 could potentially be problematic too, particularly for incoming traffic given the predicted gusts and their direction.
