Buying bitcoins

Heh guys,

I've been doing a bit of research the last week into buying bitcoins.. I want to buy 1k worth, I know it's risky but I have it to spare and might just see how it goes for a year or so..

I have currently registered on mtgox.com and am awaiting approval on my Id verification.. Has anyone dealt with this site have any info for me?

If I put my money on mtgox that means I have to trust them with my bitcoins is this correct? I won't have to have a wallet on my computer?

I'm just basically asking for advice, it's what I want to do but if someone can explain the best way about it that knows more than me I would appreciate it

GSM solutions on jervis st Dublin are listed as having an atm. I believe you need to have a wallet setup first but generating a paper wallet and sending to it should not be too hard. As said on a previous post there are loads of YouTube videos on how to create a paper wallet. Personallly I would buy via an exchange but that is a different topic and may not suit your needs.

Coinbase is acting the maggot, I've been trying to buy more coin since yesterday morning and won't let me. My colleague also set up an account 4/5 days ago and they still haven't verified his identity! Anybody else experiencing similar issues?

Create a new Electrum wallet. Write down the key words that enable a wallet to be reconstituted. Send coin to the wallet or buy coin using the wallet. Give the recipient the piece of paper with the key words on it and tell them to Use Electrum to recover a wallet using the key words. Delete the original wallet when they have it sorted.

Not sure now is a great time given the very hefty fees, which make moving anything less than thousands worth a very expensive process, proportionately. Litecoin would be a better option in terms of the fees.

If you held Bitcoins on the 12th Of December then you will have SuperBitcoin also. Its going to be listed on the HitBtc exchange in the next few days.

Some places have stopped BTC transactions because of backlogs. seems the only way to send anything at the moment is with a big fee to have the transaction confirmed in a decent time.

I got an email from Hashflare yesterday saying their BTC processor is backlogged and Hashflare have suspended all BTC transactions from a bunch of wallets.

Yes is the simple answer as they took a snapshot of the blockchain at the time of the fork and they hold your private keys. Example in my case was getting the exact amount of bitcoin cash is I had bitcoins at the time of the fork even though I subsequently moved some of them elsewhere afterwards. Something similar with Bittrex and Bitcoin Gold.

Can't seem to find a reliable answer to this online, hopefully someone can help.

I held Bitcoin on Coinbase prior to the Bitcoin Cash fork, which I subsequently lost the balls to hold and panic sold in mid September.

If Coinbase get around to giving their users the BCH they're holding, will I be able to claim it?
