D&D Act One Scene III - Red Moon over Thurmunton

Fourier

Day 1:

The adventurers leave the city of Soetrard behind them as they venture forth into the farmlands beyond the city gates. Here small local farmers work from dawn to dusk in the fields to feed Soetrard with all the grains, wheat and oats it needs to function on a daily basis.

The trip is mostly uneventful. Farmers waving at the party, small children pointing and laughing at the halflings and the odd farmer's daughter taken in by the handsome elf.

That night, with the full moon hanging high in the sky, approaching the fork where the roads to Thurmunton and Cantry separate, the horses stomp and look agitated.

Saeros and BandyLegs make out eleven figures in the shape of men shambling in the nearby trees, approaching the group slowly. The humans and halflings clearly can't see them yet. The heat from their bodies is low. Saeros makes the conclusion immediately, undead....zombies!!

The corridor has a fork ahead, one leading north and another leading south.

OOC: North, South etc are just for Molly's sake with the map. For Ekbard the corridor just splits left/right.

He flows into a another corridor, which splits into two, one East and one West.

Check for traps and cautiously go south.

'Ekbard! Can you hear me? Betty, follow me and we shall try to meet with them.'

Ekbard shouts, "I can hear you, you were attacking that north panel, so go west and south twice and you on my trail" if i scream, don't follow me."

Fourier

Ekbard finds no traps.

He follows the corridor into a room with fruit growing from vines on the ceiling. The fruit is bright purple.

There is nothing else in the stone-walled room.

Necro

Bandylegs helps Betty through the panel and they head west towards the sound of Ekbard's voice. Bandylegs stops to check the corridor for traps momentarily, before drawing his weapon

Saeros seeing the others trapped goes to where the cleric was fiddling to try open the door.

Saeros's innate elven understanding of portals and doors of any kind reveals the hidden spring mechanism in the frame.

He walks in to see the pit with the slime beneath.

Ekbard finds a spring loaded crossbow mounted in the roof above the stairs and the displaced stone on the floor that triggers it. He can easily step around them.

Bandylegs changes direction and wades back into the room before following Ekbard's path. He notices Saeros and pulls him through the West exit.

Bandylegs checks the West corridor for traps and heads south where he thinks he heard Ekbard calling from.

Ekbard takes cover and uses his long sword to trigger the displaced stone.

OOC: The slime is flowing out the doors. Although the corridors already had a good bit of slime in them.

Ekbard climbs the stairs vowing to scream if the worst should happen.

Bandylegs shouts loudly as he makes his way carefully along the corridor, Betty in tow.

'Ekbard, Othegre, light a flamin' torch!'

He beckons for Saeros to follow him

I take a rope and grappling hook from my backpack and start heaving the hook back up out of the pit.
