D&D Act One Scene III - Red Moon over Thurmunton

Fourier

Day 1:

The adventurers leave the city of Soetrard behind them as they venture forth into the farmlands beyond the city gates. Here small local farmers work from dawn to dusk in the fields to feed Soetrard with all the grains, wheat and oats it needs to function on a daily basis.

The trip is mostly uneventful. Farmers waving at the party, small children pointing and laughing at the halflings and the odd farmer's daughter taken in by the handsome elf.

That night, with the full moon hanging high in the sky, approaching the fork where the roads to Thurmunton and Cantry separate, the horses stomp and look agitated.

Saeros and BandyLegs make out eleven figures in the shape of men shambling in the nearby trees, approaching the group slowly. The humans and halflings clearly can't see them yet. The heat from their bodies is low. Saeros makes the conclusion immediately, undead....zombies!!

The boulder in front of the tomb folds out into a Troll of colossal size, exposing the entrance.

"Protect Tumuz, protect" it bellows, rushing at Betty and BandyLegs.

Othegre chases the Orcs for a few steps waving an eyeball in the air.
"Wait! You dropped something!" She calls.

"What did they mean by 'it'...?"

She has a bad feeling about the tomb...

Edit : why? Why do I have to be right all the time?

In their state of panic Ekbard makes short work of them all, cutting them down like animals.

Ekbard searches the corpses and collects all the bounty, including all the moon necklaces, then head back towards the plaza.

"Thank goodness you're here! Those orcs we're trying to attack Tumuz! You're just in time!"

"filthy D'jor-spawn!" Othegre screams, launching forward with the burning hot pencil.

Elin stumbles away from the Troll and draws her crossbow. She fires wildly at the troll as she retreats.

Fourier

Everybody's weapons connect directly with the troll, but simply bounce off its rock like hide. Except for Othegre, who spots a piece of soft flesh and wedges her pencil into it. The flesh surrounding the wound begins to dry from fluid absorption, but something odd is going on, almost as if the flesh is re-hydrating.

As the troll is about to bear down on Betty and BandyLegs an arrow from Elin flies into its right eye.

In rage it bites into Betty's arm and swings at BandyLegs and Othegre, scraping the former and walloping the latter in the stomach hard enough to break a rib, she coughs up blood.

OOC: BandyLegs 1 damage, Othegre 5 damage.

Elin continues stumbling backwards out of the Troll's reach. She quickly reloads her crossbow.

I also move to an approptiate range and hide somewhere so i can shoot from cover

Elin steadies herself and shoots again at the troll aiming for it's other eye.

Fourier

Attacks rebound of the Troll again, but an arrow takes out the Trolls other eye. It begins to swing blindly, concentrating on Betty, but her armor takes each blow.

OOC: Ye again. Ekbard is back

Ekbard on seeing the troll raises all the moon necklaces into the air and shouts "begone troll"

Elin draws another crossbow bolt and fires again at the Troll. She's aiming for his head but overshoots.

Elin shouts to the group: "I've blinded the beast, can no one else hit the damn thing?"

Banjo

Othegre rolls to one side and tries to avoid the creature's attention. She tries to see her charm but either it's spinning or she's blacking out. She grasps the charm and starts muttering her commitment to the best intention again and again, pausing only to occasionally splutter up a was of blood and sputum

Bandylegs shouts back

'I'm trying, lass! But this troll's skin is like mountain!'

Fourier

An arrow from Goodie lands in the trolls throat as Othegre's flesh re-knits itself. The troll begins to stumble and begins to take a swing at BandyLegs, it looks as though its eyes are regrowing.

Ekbard holds the necklaces aloft, they glow and the troll freezes for a minute, which allows an arrow from Elin to land in its left eye again, straight into the brain.

It collapses to the ground, no breathing.

Elin releases the breath she had held and approaches the troll cautiously. She decides not to try retrieve any of the bolts stuck in the troll.

Banjo

Othegre hobbles to the troll, pulls the pencil out and kicks it. She notices the wound pucker and close.
"Uh.... I don't think this thing is down for a big sleep.... We should go. Or chop it up."

"Is it dead?"

Necro

Bandylegs turns to Betty.

'Are ye alright lass? It seemed to have eyes for mainly ye. Is there somethin ye want to tell me?'

He eyes the open tomb.

'I'm not hanging around here to fin' out if that thing is dead, Othegre. Ye can rest inside. If we mean to continue, that is.'

He eyes Goodie and Elin in particular when saying this.
