claims: 1 claim last year
price and provider: 1200 with Aviva

Pretty reasonable price considering claim and high performance I think

some saying its down to the car (Its got 'sport' in name). Its a diesel saloon, not a sports car. the only thing sporty on the car is the name in the title.

I absolutely agree that the insurance situation in Ireland is a joke but shelling out a lot of money to save a little is surely a false economy also?

So I believed but my insurance us up for renewal and 123.ie don't insure untaxed cares anymore Im told.

True but I'd no other choice. I need my car for work and If I can't get insurance on an '03 then it pretty much a useless piece of metal. The reason i opted for a 152 is at least I won't have to worry about insurance for a good few years. If insurance wasn't an issue and I wanted to upgrade I would of bought a 2011/12 to save a few quid but I'd of faced the insurance problems sooner.

No. I'm just not paying twice the rate because my car is pre 08. Car is in great nick and just sailed through the NCT.

If you had a NCB that expires as abroad over 2yrs - you can get a quote but not be loaded as 1st time ever driver

Won’t be cheap but it prevents you ending up as “declined cases agreement “case

Well regardless, that what it look's like form the insurance company's point of view.

With all due respect if you're "just not paying twice the rate because my car is pre 08." may I suggest that you pay your tax every 3 or 6 months? Or else purchase a car with a smaller engine?

If however, you can not afford to pay motor tax, you can not afford a car. Simple as..

IN reality NCB is a smokescreen. If you make a claim even with full NCB your policy will still be loaded the next year. as in the pre ncb amount will rocket up.

Until you fully settle the claim which can take along time in some cases 1-2 years. you are tied to your insurance company as no body else will touch you.

When you are fully settled insurance companies will still load you as they ask you have you had any claims in the last 5 years

Sounds about right once the car hits 10 years old. my mother was paying 650 or so for years, went to 1800 after 10 years, then 2350 after 11 years. no change in details other than age of the car.

I've tried everywhere. Its the age of the car despite it sailing through the NCT.
I paid 400 on a 2.0l Ford before then changed to a Honda 1.6 and it jumped to 1200.
Cannot win with these insurance companies
