There's been a crazy number of threads recently looking for restaurant recommendations, so I'd like to start a specific thread for it. Please post below about your favourite restaurants - why you like them, what price range they are, what type of food they serve, if they have an early bird, opening hours if you know them, where they're located. If you could include a link to the website, that would be great. The more details, the better. This is not a thread to post negative reviews - there's a thread in the main Food & Drink forum for that if you like. Basically, I want this thread to be full of recommendations, not positive and negative reviews. That being said, you can disagree with a recommendation briefly if you really feel the need to, but you must have a really valid reason such as an awful experience, rather than "I don't really like the food" or "It's too expensive".

I was in Il Padrino last night, it has been years since I was there. Pizza was delicious .

Sorry for the delay, had a hectic day but luckily I had a good start thanks to the recommendation of the Crawford Art Gallery cafe,

The eggs Benedict were some of the best I've had and I'm not exaggeration, the poached eggs were pure perfection, a lovely creamy not overly salted hollandaise sauce, crispy streaky bacon "but not the really thin stuff" on top of two golden brown pieces of sourdough, all in for €8:50.

If I were to be overly picky I could have done with either one more slice of sour dough or just two bigger ones and also the tea and coffee not being included is a massive bugbear of mine like I've mentioned before.

It actually makes no sense, they have a full Irish in which you can get poached eggs and sour dough toast, bacon, sausages, black and white pudding, orange juice AND tea or coffee for €10:50 whereas I paid €10:70 for my eggs Benedict plus tea?

Anyway it's a minor niggle that the quality of the food outshaddowed.

I'm a fusspot about eggs benny. I don't like liberty grills actually, not mad about their hollandaise, no flavour off it, I suspect it's an imposter rather than the real deal. Ali's Kitchen would be the spot I go to for it. Actual hollandaise, it's on sourdough. Full disclosure, it's proper baked ham there they use, not a rasher.
Other good place for it in the city is The Weir Rooms (River Lee hotel). They do a great brunch, and that room on the river is lovely.
I like Cafe Velo too, but they go a bit mental and have asparagus in their eggs benny, I'm sure they could drop the asparagus for you. It's an english muffin, and rashers.

The Bookshelf on south mall does an Eggs Royale... also good. Not bacon obvs.

Salt on the Blackrock road does good egg dishes. Not a lot of room but there is covered/heated area at the back.

Thanks very much, tried the liberty before which was good but took an absolute age to get served, I eventually had to go upto the counter myself and ask for a menu, then after another ten minutes I had to go to the counter to place my order.

Food was good though, the Crawford never even crossed my mind for food so I'll give it a go and report back.

Went to Sliced for the first time. Pizza was okay, nothing to rave about and there are nicer pizzas in the city for less. Also, you had to slice it yourself which I thought was funny.

Wedges were as if they were Green Isles finest, ate maybe two. Decor is nice, staff are nice. Won't be back.

I had smoked salmon with scrambled eggs but it was more scrambled eggs with a sliver of smoked salmon - had to ask for more... coffee's were served after food... no fault of the floor staff - i waiter for the whole place.. no excuse for meals being served separately - couldn't enjoy food served like that - good for bad... pity - it has all the makings of a good restaurant

Yes, the mushroom burger. The knife provided had about as much sharpness as a butter knife. I had to cut it a few times and the whole thing fell apart! Any other burger place I’ve been to have much sharper knives.

I'd recommend it, went once and had the quesadillas, they were fab. Definitely worth giving it a go. I'd say it's probably a little more expensive than Cafe Mexicana though.

Had dinner in the Cornstore last week. I know it’s one of those places that divides people and I used to be in the no camp but I’ve been there a few times in the last few months and loved it. This time had the duck spring rolls to start and the burger for main. Everything was so good. I’m very anti huge burgers that won’t fit in my mouth and this one was perfectly sized. My husband got the fillet steak and ate every bit as well. It was perfectly cooked.

No dessert because we were stuffed but I got a virgin Mojito instead which hit the spot.

West Cork Burger very nice. Really good burger. The chips. My god. Amazing.

Finally got to Spitjack for a Sunday lunch, and it was very good - nice ambience upstairs.

I had the Chicken Croquettes, and while a little bland (could do with a little lift), were a good tasty portion. Main course was the porchetta, which was packed with flavour but a stingy portion !!! 2 thin slices wasn't really enough. Someone said the main evening meal had 3 slices, but don't know about that.
