Im looking at the 312W or 412GW but my question is about the hardwiring, would you consider is necessary? I only ask as I have the intention of getting a newer car in the new year (I hope) and would obviously like to move the dash cam from one to the other. Anyone not hardwire the dash cam and have no problems? If i do get the newer car i probably would get it hardwired then...Any help greatly appreciated!!

(which is a good thing) IF you are getting a new car in the new year, there is no need to hardwire it and you can just run it off the cig lighter. That being said, I hate wires and untidy interior and it took me literally 15 mins to hardwire the 312gw and probably take me 2 minutes to completely uninstall. Point is, its not a big job to unittall it and reinstall it even if you were to get a new car.

Most come with a suction mount so you couldn't put it on the dash even if you wanted to.
