It's been 3 or so years since I popped in there but from what i remember the pricer titles are eBay buy it now prices but there's some good deals to be had in the common to uncommon range.
Again, it's a long time since I was in there so I'm sure some of the Dublin lads can advise you better

Would a basic boxed N64 (no rf brick thing but composite cable, box in only average condition) be worth 50 euro?

Have to see if I have a game to test it with first to make sure it works.

Prices on Adverts vary wildly so would be grateful for even a ball park figure.

My advice: Don't get a PAL N64. More trouble than it's worth in the long run. PAL games run slower and when you are dealing with a lot of N64 games with framerates of 20 FPS and below it can be a disaster. You also can't mod a PAL N64 for RGB and imports are a disaster, running slower and in a lot of cases with game breaking glitches.

NTSC games are easier to find and cheaper and with the small library of worthwhile games on the N64 it's a much better alternative in the long run.

Get a cheap Japanese one on ebay from yamotaku store if their shipping is still reasonable, then get rid of the outer part of the cartridge slot and you can play American games too. I recommend doing that, getting an s-video cable or do the scart mod if you are handy with that stuff, then buy an Everdrive and you are set.
I got my N64 from Japan for around 40 including shipping if memory serves me right, so it can be done.

I went the expensive route with the N64 a few years back and bought an NTSC Jap one with an RGB scart mod and a switchless region mod.

I've a JAP, PAL and US console. Don't like it either! Still it's got some crackers and is fairly inexpensive. Just wish I never started collecting most of my collection in PAL. Someday I'll off load them all and get the NTSC versions. At least the rare ones I got in NTSC. Pretty inexpensive so when the opportunity arose for the US and JAP one I went for them.

I will retain my one for Starfox 64 and Sin & Punishment.

Did you ever pick up one of those Hori pads for it? They make games so much more playable.

you can mod a pal n64 for RGB , I know i did my one i think at some point http://etim.net.au/n64rgb/

I have to get one. N64 pads are made of spiderwebs and pixie dust and held together by the sheer optimism of the Nintendo engineers.

I've very fond memories of playing through Mario 64 for the first time in 1999 with UltraHLE it looked bloody lovely.

There's that patch you can use with an Everdrive 64, gets rid of the vaseline-O-vision , makes everything look better.
But, at least with emulation you don't have to worry about crappy PAL speeds and borders.

At what point does it cease to be an N64 game and becomes a PC port?

Would love to check that out actually, does Retroarch require much of a PC to get that kind of stuff going?
