The Restaurant Recommendation Thread

There's been a crazy number of threads recently looking for restaurant recommendations, so I'd like to start a specific thread for it. Please post below about your favourite restaurants - why you like them, what price range they are, what type of food they serve, if they have an early bird, opening hours if you know them, where they're located. If you could include a link to the website, that would be great. The more details, the better. This is not a thread to post negative reviews - there's a thread in the main Food & Drink forum for that if you like. Basically, I want this thread to be full of recommendations, not positive and negative reviews. That being said, you can disagree with a recommendation briefly if you really feel the need to, but you must have a really valid reason such as an awful experience, rather than "I don't really like the food" or "It's too expensive".

We did have a Mongolian one where you cook your own food some time back, I didn't find it great if I recall correctly.

It was on South Main st, where that "eddie rockets" type place is now. You could concoct your own meals or follow a recipe, you could also eat as much as you want. I remember one of the lads going up for eight dishes, no rice filler for that fella.

I think people will be more open to it now then before. Only issues might be getting some of the cuts of meet for it.

And chopsticks only here in the USA in them some people won't be to happy ha

It was really awful.
Really cheap ingredients mushed up together with sticks on a hot plate then lobbed into a bowl.
Truly horrible food.

Went to Luigi's for lunch the other day, hadn't been there for years, but the tripadvisor reviews won me over. I just don't get what the fuss is about though, to me it's just slightly below average food and a wannabe Italian menu. Place was absolutely packed though, lots of young people. I feel like I've missed some secret?! XD

Had dim sum in YMY for lunch today and it was awesome, as always. The people that work there somehow remember me even though I'm only there maybe a couple of times a year, and their dumplings are excellent. Skipped the chicken feet though.

I love YMY, Dim Sum are delicious, as is their Dry Lamb Curry. Haven't been brave enough for the chicken feet either, or the duck tongues.

This used to be one of my favourite brunch spots but its gone so inconsistent its crazy.

Had a dreadful experience in Brick Lane with the service a few months ago, wouldn't go back there again.

See Bitesize Cafe just opened a place in Ballincollig. Didn't go in, looked busy. Will do in a few days. Its on the old side of the street, near the flower shop. Biggish shop.

Finally got to Spitjack for a Sunday lunch, and it was very good - nice ambience upstairs.

I had the Chicken Croquettes, and while a little bland (could do with a little lift), were a good tasty portion. Main course was the porchetta, which was packed with flavour but a stingy portion !!! 2 thin slices wasn't really enough. Someone said the main evening meal had 3 slices, but don't know about that.

Wouldn't be in a rush back which is a pity as the restaurant itself has a nice ambience to it and the tables are well spaced out where there's not people on top of you.

You really have to go out of your way to make a pizza bad.

Had many in the ballincollig sliced and always decent.

Had dinner in the Cornstore last week. I know it’s one of those places that divides people and I used to be in the no camp but I’ve been there a few times in the last few months and loved it. This time had the duck spring rolls to start and the burger for main. Everything was so good. I’m very anti huge burgers that won’t fit in my mouth and this one was perfectly sized. My husband got the fillet steak and ate every bit as well. It was perfectly cooked.

No dessert because we were stuffed but I got a virgin Mojito instead which hit the spot.

Went there yesterday. Not a huge fan of portobello mushrooms but have to say it was very nice! Only thing that annoyed me was the burger was served with a very blunt knife so couldn't cut it properly. A steak knife would be better.
