Ah it's nothing against Tom Farrell as such, just we always get waaay ahead of ourselves on new guys with very few games. He's looked decent but the sample size is tiny. None of us have any idea what he's really like.

He's certainly not at the level of McCloskey etc in terms of back up to the top four. Maybe he'll get there... but haven't Connacht just signed a Kiwi bloke to play the same position?

A few weeks ago you dismissed Rob Herrings selection on the back of a good few months at the start of this season. Now you are claiming Chris Farrell shouldnt be picked because of 3 or 4 games you have seen him play in France out of 75 or so that he played.

You also said the wrong Farrell was selected. So you absolutely did claim T Farrell should have been picked.

Centres
Ringrose, Aki, Henshaw, Payne, Marshall, Scannell, McCloskey, C Farrell.

Looks to me like Joe is developing depth. He knows what Payne, Marshall and Ringrose bring. Scannell has been in camp amd will be again in future. He has rewarded McCloskeys form and rightly so. Now he wants to see if C Farrell can develop his game to be a decent back up option at least.

We cant develop depth if we pick just 4 centres and stick with them for 2019.

Farrell was top quality at Grenoble, his passing is up there with his physicality as one of his top assets.. hasn’t had a lot of chance to show it at Munster yet, but he should fit a Joe system very well..

Conway also should be looked st got FB imo.. won’t happen but he’s not a bad option at 15 at all!

Irish people have started to get their heads around weight in kilograms in recent years mostly owing to fitness and sports. All the weights in our gyms our in kg so most people who visit gyms would have a reference for it.

But we don't have any frame of reference for centimetres thus it's proving harder for people to shake the imperial measurements for height.

Personally, I'm 18 hands.

Joe loves big centres, getting him back in Ireland and capped ties him up and gives joe another option.

All the provinces currently have IQ'd starting centres:

Leinster: Henshaw/Ringrose
Munster: Scannell/Farrell
Ulster: McCloskey/Marshall
Connacht: Farrell/Aki

Farrell was a central player for Grenoble when there. He's no world beater but he's very reliable, has good pace for a bloke of his size and is a strong defender. He's not going to be a major international but he was always marked out as a future international player from his underage days.

Farrell is a superb passer of the football. I'm interested to see what he can do in a Joe Schmidt set-up.
